Honestly never had that issue, at least not in vanilla DST. Not even trying to push my point, just genuinely never felt this way. Could also be because I play a character who gets locked out of 3 inventory slots so I kinda just learned how to not pick up everything. (The 3 slots being Lighter, Bernie and Embers)

which is fair, not everyone has that draw to collecting ^^

You know, having stuff like Rain Coat or Puffy Vest be really good at their job (insulation/waterproofing) to the point of not needing thermal stone/eyebrella would be a start, or Dapper Vest giving like 10san/min.

Not having access to eight inventory slots (backpack) itself is a major enough downside already.
The problem is then how do you differentiate the redundant stuff like Breezy vs Puffy Vest.

the rain coat already has 100% wetness resistance, it physically cannot get better at waterproofing

Easy.. just like with the rest of the game, Science Machine Crafts are Weaker then Alchemy Engine Crafts, Alchemy is Weaker then Prestihatitator Crafts, Clothing items should be assigned an intended tier.

But character reworks and skill trees have made inventory and precious backpack slots that much more important, because for example- A Wigfrid player is going to gather black feathers, to craft Ink Pen, to make Battle Scrolls, and depending on if they opt to invest a skill point into the Battle Call Canister, or to instead skip the Canister and maybe buff Wigfrids other skills (like I did) then you also need to carry around your battle scrolls taking up inventory slots (though honestly with the way Willow has a Combat Wheel & Wendy has a Combat Wheel, and Maxwell.. maybe perhaps an inventory full of scrolls wasn’t the best idea for Wigfrid..?) That’s JUST the Scrolls, she also needs Commander Helms, Elden Spears Etc.

So yeah extra backpack space is important, and as long as the thermal stone solves the problem with 1 inventory slot, I’m obviously not giving up 8 (or more) extra slots for clothing.

Arguably the rain cost needs buffs the least, as it actually has a really nice niche of giving you 100% wetness protection without taking up your hand or head slots. I use it whenever I fight crab king as WX so that I can use the void cowl/scion crown for the bonus damage, or just some random head armor for protection. It's also relatively easy to get, assuming you don't get super unlucky with tentacle spot drops. I really can't think of any thematically appropriate way of buffing this item, though if we want to give it a completely random buff, 10% speed could be fun.
