I admittedly expected it given Kleifest always occurs in June, so I'm happy they didn't put in the final encounter in the shadow arc to squeeze in a deadline (I remember they were updating during the weekend to get some last minute changes to the Scion/WARBOT done, it must have been very rough for them : ( ).

Still is a bit unfortunate of course, I'm hoping the hotfixes work around some standing issues. My personal thing I'm hoping for is improvements to warping around the teleport network to be something more sustainable that will hopefully come soon.

I imagine that it was only broken up into part 1 and part 2 so that they have something to drop for Klei fest. I said this in another thread, but I REALLY hope that part 2 will be next in development, rather than a skill tree or a crossover or something like that. Hopefully, beta for part 2 starts some time after klei fest, and they can touch up on the stuff in part 1 as well as reveal what this is all gearing towards

I mean, let's be real, this was the update. What's the point of having the beta be any longer? The beta already had all the content it planned to and very minimal changes were needed because of how little content there was.

This is just the issue with klei splitting up all these updates into multiple parts. It's hard to give a lot of feedback when we are really lacking the full picture.

Yeah the beta seems pretty much done to me, it mostly just seems like its setting things up for next time while also giving us some fun new tools to play around with while we wait. It doesn't seem like a bad update either, the telelocator and night light buffs seems pretty cool, and thermic tools are kind of neat. I'm always down for biomes to get more biome specific content added to them, makes each area feel more distinct and makes them worth visiting.

i get yall but in general i dont like how updates like this get segmented into two parts. even if its for klei fest i wish team would just release the updates in full and got the time they needed

I’m completely with you, I hated the introduction of them and I hate that they’re normalized now. It makes me not want to touch a lot of the new content knowing it’s just blatantly unfinished.

Almost feels like they’re doing monthly updates again, except trying to avoid calling it that. I really did hope that doing updates every 3 months instead of every month would prevent this kind of thing, but I gave up on hoping for that forever ago. I just play other games and am not actively hurt by waiting, even if it is a pain that this had been a consistent trend for 2 years now.

Was kinda expecting another week, maybe for stalker_npc to be implemented, but I suppose that's something for part 2. (there's not much "shadow" in the "shadow rift finale" right now)

As for the update being split into 2 parts, I was honestly hoping for that. I didn't want a repeat of Hostile Takeover where they're in a crunch to finish such an important boss in time for Klei Fest. I think it's fine for "finale" updates like this to be split into parts (especially in this manner, having the build-up be part 1 and then the actual final boss be part 2).

still so sad that the shadow rifts got almost nothing and its already being wrapped up :((
i hope its just the finale to the story and not the rifts in general

this has been my biggest critique of not just this update but the entire From Beyond storyline. Right now it looks like you are encouraged to fight fuelweaver, hand over the dreadstone, hand over the keystone (since sanctum isn't tied to rifts), and immediately go into the final boss for shadows. This update still did almost nothing to fix shadow progression, and even the process to get the keystone is barely related to shadows in any way, feeling more like yet another lunar update.

None of the previous shadow updates did anything to fix this either. Depths of Duplicity sure didn't (it made the problem worse honestly with how lazy the possessed shadow atrium and rictus spawning is), and I didn't even know the sanctum was supposed to be a shadow update until months later. We never even got to see shadow corrupted bosses or even just something as simple as a post rift shadow boss, and the closest thing we got was the ripple which is passive and frustrating to kill.

Let's not forget that we had to beg Klei to not require spark arks for the SHADOW questline to continue in the sanctum, and even then you still need to at least get partway through the lunar questline since you need to power the archives and get a spark ark for the allied guard tower. I genuinely feel like Klei hates the shadow content, or at least cares way way more about the lunar content that they would still make the lunar content the focus in a shadow update.

yeah no cuz at least with lunar rifts you had to fight the 3 lunar bosses to even start the WARBOT arc, but with shadows you could theoretically finish shadow arc day 1 of shadow rifts

like even something small like making Greater Depths Worm (which should've been shadow rift locked btw) drop some item that it ate on accident or smth would help with progression

Rictus would be so cool and genuinely kinda scary if it was something that spawned randomly and stalked you while you were in the caves. Seeing it smile at you from the darkness would've been super cool, plus it would've been nice to have another source of dark tatters that isn't reliant on the dreadstone outcrop. It also would've felt like the caves were actually becoming more dangerous, instead of just spawning ickers that you might accidentally walk into and annoying mask mobs that flood your world with garbage useless masks.

With how quickly the Waymark Compass was added (a day after the beta started), I suspect using the compass to lure sparks over to the boss room was always the idea, and the spark arks were just some secondary method that was easier to test with.

I do wish we got like, shadow versions of these three as a sort of shadow rift equivalent to the lunar mutants, although that might be asking for a lot. (also I like the Ancient Herald and this would be an excuse to add something resembling him)

To be fair, that's kind of the entire purpose of betas? To test things out and give feedback.

Something being changed quickly in the beta usually means that Klei listened to feedback and realized that the players had a good idea there. That's a good thing.

Like, dunno, to me a quick change like this one is just a happy occasion where the devs just looked at it and realized, "Oh wait, the players are right." and instantly changed something.
