Klei provides an official solution that shadow creatures would fight with the guard towers. They are hard to kill each other, so that you can tackle one tower at a time.

The real disaster is the guidance. Shadow creatures attack physical mobs? No one can manage to realize this. The decontamination room and super sanity aura in the encounter room? They are good things of course, preventing shadow creatures spawning during the fight!

You see here is the problem, we don't know we're getting the keystone for Charlie, why would we consider Shadow as an ally?

Watching how-to guides and practicing with rollbacks has been intended gameplay since Warbot/Scion.

Could argue that's been the method since forever as I imagine people went through the same process with toadstool and fuel weaver.

I can’t imagine casual player find way to easily defeat dfly sololy without watching guide.

It’s pretty normal to watch guide in current gaming industries. Like, can you imagine people finding out how to build nether portal in Minecraft without using wiki?

Is it intended gameplay though? I HATE rolling back all the time, I absolutely can’t stand wasting time and effectively accomplishing NOTHING in the process. And not to mention rolling back on the Xbox console had that nasty bug where it would just get stuck trying to load & then regenerate your world.

Yesterday was the first time I have EVER legitimately activated a Moonstorm in ANY of my game worlds, and it’s something I sincerely pray Klei adds to world Gen settings so In all future worlds I can enable it from Day 1, because it’s plain and simply a long grind to even reach this point of the game (not to mention you gotta kill Pearl socketed crab king.. how fun..) I do not plan to EVER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE grind out the RPG Quests & Bosses required to start Moonstorm Events I’m doing it in this one world, and if I lose this game save file due to a corrupt rollback attempt- F It I’m 100% Done trying.

This is absolutely and supremely true. Going back in time, all players could find AFW and Misery Toadstool on their own, without tutorials. Nobody used rollback back then (in fact, that command didn't exist in the game and was only added with the arrival of Scion).

uhm, actually, Rollback is a very old command at this point. You can even find posts about c_rollback from 2017.

I sincerely doubt anyone but the most dedicated players were able to find this organically tutorials and word of mouth from others who used tutorials are the way most people encounter fuel weaver and nothing has really changed on that front.

I see you didn't understand.

I wouldn't even go that far (as is the case with AFW). Playing without ever having seen anything on the internet, a player would know very little of what DST has to offer.

@Cruvimaster It appears you need to work on your sarcasm, or they need to get better at detecting it.

Maybe a little more intelligence or context interpretation will do the trick.

Okay, after calming down and rethinking my approach, I finally got a better grasp of the fight. It's honestly not too bad, though having to wait for the nightmares to spawn is a little tedious, it feels like they spawn a lot slower in that room. So long as you don't pull the levers at the start and have only one golem aggroed on to you at a time, it's pretty manageable. I still think each golem could have their health scaled down a tiny bit, maybe 4500-4000, and have the little snail guys be easier to take out if players accidentally pull them. It's incredibly difficult to deal with both mobs, especially since they can stack on top of each other due to their slow move speed.

Shadow creatures just don't spawn when you actually want them to spawn, and spawns several terrorbeaks instantly when you don't want them to

Having now actually attempted the fight, I can say with confidence that it's not very difficult solo. Wearing a bone helm and using a Void Cloak or Bone Armor for protection makes it a very simple fight. However, I do wish there was SOME indication that shadow creatures and insanity are the intended solution for killing them. Perhaps a lore tablet outside of the Decontaminator or within the chamber itself? I think it would feel natural to have the ancients indicate the purpose of their decontaminator, something along the lines of "shadows are hostile to our creations".

that's just an issue with, like, 90% of the game. it would be insane to me if a new player knew where to even begin with starting the celestial champion quest, let alone finishing it, and it is far from the only example. Klei has kind of established this game as a wiki game by this point.

the fight is soo easy i could fight them multiple at once .and still win without bone helm or nightmare amulet.
u cant be serious that the fight is hard. i dont believe you. get good weapons, and kite them properly . fr now

I mean, I think the implementation of the Scrapbook was Klei attempting to make it not a wiki game-- there are hints that you can't see anywhere else in the game located in there (ex. the Moon Caller Poem that you find from the Moon Stone's entry). I just wish that more of this game actually felt like it didn't require looking things up to know what you're doing even with guidance from the scrapbook (maybe the entries for Pearl's Pearl and the Celestial Altars could have some hints as to what to do for that stage of the questline? I'm not sure).

the problem is that the scrapbook is very bloated and unorganized, good luck finding wagstaff's notes in there if you forgot what they were called
there should be subcategories in each category, like once you go to the animal page it should give you a selection between birds, robots, hounds, shadows, etc. we kinda already have this (example: Celestial Champion's scrapbook title says Gestalt/Celestial Champion, its just not made into actual categories yet)

i can imagine casual players building nether portals considering there are setpieces in the game that go over how to do it

That’s added after 1.12, and yah I think Microsoft is trying to make Minecraft less a wiki game, so I might not using a good example.
