Probably data taken from people who report what characters they are playing or that have an add-on installed or something like it.

The number there is way too small when compared to the total number of concurrent players of DST, so it has to have some sort of opt-in system to gather the data from.

Dunno the details either though.

that makes more sense, thanks!

DST players when they see someone play in a way they like that they don't agree with:

The internet has accostumed you to see disagreement as a threat, its not, i was also very friendly, remembering him he can play how he wants without hiding my genuine reaction.

And your ridiculization of me as a "generic annoying DST player that can't handle debates" very uncalled for and.. "I kinda got a little angry"

"hey guys look! this sore loser is being genuine about how baffled he is and... remembering the other guy he can play how he wants... uuuuhhhh.. dst players when you play in a way they don't agree with!! am i right?"

I don't get why it's so confusing.

Because he can give to any character increased damage, armor, efficiency, 1.25x more healing from foods, bone stew, monster tartate, potato suffle, volt goat jelly and you like him because the downsides forces you to take pierogies and surf and turfs into bossfights? I see healing for bossfights as nothing more than a chore, and i'd just get more annoyed if i had to make a winter lure to look for fish cuz its winter and the trees are not dropping nuts for trailmix just because i need healing for the fight.

Ok, i'll sympathize with you that cooking diverse food is very fun, i agree with you, when i get my hands on some different ingredients i love exploring the cooking system and cook some new stuff even when its not rewarding, you can "cheat" his food memory in daily life, but our views on bossfight healing are completely opposite, to me its making something i don't like 10x worse and to you it brings depth to the game, just a disagreement.

That said, its still a very niche and unexpected explanation, to not even talk about his spices or unique foods, but that his best part is his downside... i think my reaction is completely understandable

...no? I'm pretty sure literally anyone would take offense to this if you said it even if you mentioned you were half joking. I know practically all of my friends would, and rightfully so.

I said a very generic statement that can apply to a lot of people on the forums here (with my most recent experience of this not even being older than two weeks ago), and did it in response to your post borderline insulting someone about their reasoning behind their character choice. I have a feeling you knew you made a mistake when reading that, and instead of redeeming it you decided to double down and attempt to ridicule me for like basically no reason.

Regardless of how you feel, this isn't how you should approach people when talking about discussions at all. I have my own playstyle and character preferences and even if I don't get why a person would like X or Y, I would still want to at least politely ask them about it instead so I can at least hear their position and be considerate about it.

Meanwhile Wes players are being picked apart by buzzards in the desert. I REALLY hope they don't make his skilltree a massive joke or just make him even harder.

Isn't that the whole point of the character?

Challenging for sure solo, but his design just doesn't translate well in a multiplayer environment. Besides, with the DST characters having more depth and a change in their balance philosophy, I feel like Wes being just a silly joke character is pretty outdated. I feel like if they're still gonna make him hard, give him more support related abilities that make him more useful on a team.

Didn't Klei say once that Wes's thing is going to be that bad luck for him is good luck for everyone else, like in his animated short? I feel like that'd be a way to make him have more challenges that benefit other players.

I didnt lie in my post as an attempt to save face, i was honest, i thought the satire was very undeserved, i didnt make a remark about them personally just their statement, and i did say "you do you" (i wanted to write a short informal answer) i swear i wasn't try to fool anyone with my defense.

I can see that by the post likes, an overwhelming majority thinks my reaction went overboard... thinking back i could have said "never in a million years would i say that as a reason to play warly" instead of "thats the worst reason to play warly i could come up with"

Thats how i felt LOL, but seeing as i was wrong in the end, i was wrong for retaliating, sorry.

Yeah, Pruinae made a Wes Skill Tree that had a branch with the idea in mind. That's honestly how I'd want Klei to approach his skill tree, where Wes' misfortune provides great benefit to others. That way he'd still be challenging while still providing for his team. Make him the ULTIMATE support character. https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/163176-wes-skill-tree-concept/

Snip

Wanna state that I greatly appreciate you took the time to write a genuine apology accepting you had made a slipup, especially since it's pretty rare for people to be honest about stuff like that on the forums. Thank you for being honest about it, it means a lot to me (and I know a lot of the people here, as well)!
