Lunar Wx is so fun! (just sharing)

I simply want to express it. 

Finally reached day 200+ with WX an decided to try his minions for the first time. I don't have CC or FW beaten in this world yet, I was having fun just farming resources mostly, so my goal was to attempt BQ with 2-3 possessed friends. 

I farmed a lot of marble so wanted to tank but accidentally dropped the whole stack into the sea... I got confused for a seconds but desided to continue. A robot in lunar island crafted a shadow teleportation station there, so he was insterting purple gems and my other 3 bodies teleported. Fast travel is cool)

I mostly gave my guys 2 speedy circuits, 2 super health circuits and that's it, despite they had electric / spin circuits randomly it wasn't the main focus.

And on BQ fight I also noticed that I haven't brought weapons, so we went with whatever we had, a tulecite club someone had, others fought with spears, I was using dark sword and batbats cause I don't care for sanity. They also fight with shadow creatures alongside with you so it's cool. I ate gears sometimes and feed them to my possessed friends cause I had no other food almost besides some occasional carrots lol. Anyway we won and then I realized I didn't scanned BG lol so no bean booster for now.

Then we managed to deal with DF easily.

I've decided to summon Twins also but nights were too short and actually it's quite hard to deal with, so haven't finished the fight yet. Then a houndwave finally killed one of my minions and set it on fire lol but I was able to extinguish it luckly, don't know if it burns.

One more thing, I found that a jelly bean I've provided to my possesed friend wasn't eaten, so it seems like they don't eat jelly beans for some reason. I think they'll die soon from hunger cause I'm tired to feed their bellies and I don't have any food farms so I'll let them dissolve until CC fight.

Anyway very cool expirience, I hope to hear someone else's good expressions because I didn't had so much fun for long time and this was awesome!

This is great to know. Like many others I have trouble beating AFW, especially because I play on the laptop only. It might be a good idea to start out with Lunar and just rush to AFW to unlock the void cowl sooner rather than later. I really prefer the solo dark skill tree aspect but the controls make it almost impossible to beat AFW even with 3 recruited bishops.

I am kinda same, both fear Fuelweawer and prefer shadow side for most characters conceptually. But on WX-78 I feel like lunar is his "in character" side. So I actually want to deal with CC first in my run to make lunar range weapons for the minions, I feel like it'll help with FW) 

But I'm currently avoiding crab king fight because I don't want to accidentally drown .

Just blow him up. Beat him down to near 10k HP (you can do that without mods, just knowing how much damage your weapon deals and a bit of math), throw down a stack of gunpowder under him, bam, he's now at ~2k HP, you can do that with a normal damage char in one phase. If you're still having problems, another 15-20 gunpowder should more than solve it, though I prefer doing the last bit normally, or you'll need to time things properly.

 

Eggs and charcoal are easy for the gunpowder, just force-feed a bird with meat and burn down a forest, the nitre is slightly more difficult though: AG tends to gift you some during the fight, and you can mine the rest, even more easily now with the spin circuit.

Never tried it, but wouldn't bishops be really useful against FW? I would think the AOE would wreck the woven shadows.

Well, since bishops where limited to 3 per WX, it's not that impactful. Considering you need to contantly keep boss aggro on you or they'll be dead which I saw in some youtube playthroughs using tons of bishops before nerf. So they might be helpfull, but 3 won't cover my skill issues.

Don't get me wrong I have ways to deal with AF, but it's always either pain or chill strategies like Walter+pillar.

I set up a world just to experiment different configurations versus AF. I play on a laptop trackpad so I have very limited dexterity and ability to switch. 

With the bishop nerf and with WX-78 you simply just need to make a thulecite club, recruit 3 bishops and one rook. The rook will absorb enough shots to keep the bishops alive long enough to kill minions consistently until the fight is done (usually 2 survive). The club + a marble suit will do enough damage to kill him in 3 cycles. 

I tried with 3 bishops maybe 8 times and couldn't beat him once. With 3 bishops, a rook (2 will be counter productive because it'll make targeting harder for you) I killed him 4 out of 4 times comfortably. That said this is probably still not enough if you play on the console lol.

man if only i could enjoy lunar affinity as much as you. theyre such **** followers for how much effort and resources you have to put into them. klei decided shadow would stay in beta and decided ts was good enough for mainbranch?

Whyyyy? They're kinda short-term followers so basically all you need as to me is prepare armor and weapons, then just teleport to lunar to possess them, move them to your boss arena prepared and you gave pretty good DPS with survival. And feed them with basic carrots/berries which you can grab on the way. Then let them die cause why to upkeep if you don't deal with bosses. 

Or you can play as if you're their mom! I think that would be a cool challenge, I'm so excited! 😊

Short term? Good luck getting them repossessed after you leave lunar without enlightened crown and jewels. By the time you can get one of the most difficult items in the game you won't need them while If they were easier to repossess you wouldn't feed them. Lunar affinity is the fun option for people that want to have followers, I don't even find it fun and shadow affinity is much better for most players.

Don't forget that using lunar affinity you'll lose the ability to leave chassis in areas you want to be able to teleport to. It takes a while to arm them with circuits and gear and that time can be put into setting up chassis with all the circuits so that you can teleport to them and use as main body and this would mean that you'd save time by teleporting even If fights take longer because cutting time on traveling matters a lot and boss fights are usually fast If you are prepared.

I'm not an advocate for this affinity, it's not optimal and has it's downsides for sure, I also think shadow affinity/no affinity would be more beneficial for most players. But this affinity is so fun! I'm actually not a big fan of followers (Wurt is boring for me) but these possessed ones make me engaged.

And no it's not hard to repossess them ouside caves. You build a telelocator focus in lunar once you get there, leave a bunch of purpe gems, and then teleport your chassises one by one. Then you have a boat trip outside but leave telelocator focus with gems installed so you can telelocate any chassis there once it's unpossessed. It seems costly but WX farms boulder trees in the ruins with ease so you'll be swimming in gems.

As someone who hates using the chassis for teleports as the fastest character in the game I’ve been liking the lunar vessels a lot. I’m pretty sure the only place on the surface where it’s really worth leaving a teleport spot anyways is the lunar island, so I don’t miss out on anything. I like being able to customize builds on my backups since it gives me a new use for bio data after I have all the circuits I care about.

I don’t think people realize how easy they are to upkeep as long as you leave a spare chassis on lunar island. Just teleport to it, possess the other two chassis, then teleport to your original chassis and they will teleport with you. You will always have access to them if you need them and leave them back on lunar if you don’t. You do not need 3 possessed chassis, it’s excessive and expensive, 2 does the job just fine and is way easier to manage. You definitely don’t need celestial jewels for consistent, easy minions, and if you do this you don’t even have to feed them.
