Hey guys, just a heads-up regarding tomorrow's update.  We're thinking of keeping the Shadow alignment part of the tree locked, so that we can continue working on it in the beta branch.

Changes

  • Possessed Chassis
    • Can now detect actions performed by the player spinning.
    • Improved kiting behaviour.
    • Will now try to use max attack range when equipped with a ranged weapon.
  • Nutribrick is now in the Plant Registry Fertilizers tab and can be properly researched.
  • Disabled Shadow Servitor skill while it is undergoing some changes.
  • Disabled Year of the Clockwork Knight.
  • Like chess, each player is now limited to 2 of each type of Clockwork followers at a time. (WX-78’s limit is 3 per type.)

 

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed Possessed Chassis not being immune to electric damage.
  • Fixed Possessed Chassis getting stuck in place using Spin-Cycle until they get dizzy.
  • Fixed Possessed Chassis repeatedly swapping between weapons with the same damage during combat.
  • Fixed being able to revive by haunting a Possessed Chassis.
  • Fixed a case where Incursive Gestalts can get stuck when trying to possess a Chassis.
  • Fixed Possessed Chassis not using the proper animation when attacking with blow darts.
  • Fixed Possessed Chassis stats not being saved when going dormant.
  • Fixed Possessed Chassis not dying when their leader dies.

I do love the idea of inserting different shadow materials inside your chassis! I think different types of shadow materials could give different shadow themed effects. Allowing you to swap and choose what effect you want! Just like circuits!

I think Pure Horror, Dreadstone, and Dark Tatters would be nice inclusions.

this is also a really neat way of balancing clockwork spam, ill definitely feel a bit more inclined to use them

also we're all in understanding that this is to make WX's Possessed Chassis' look better, right?

Is there any chance you could just keep the shadow affinity as-is for tomorrow's release? If you're going to be working on it in the beta I'm not sure why it needs to be completely disabled.

I love this change! Clockworks were so busted beforehand as they had a snowball effect. Allowing you to befriend more and more.

Hey can we know what is the plan with shadow affinity please????? we keep being left in the dark with what plans are going to happen and my world has been locked because i lost my affinity right now so i want to know if i should just start another world in advance or if the shadow affinity will just recieve a full rework, whats going to happen to my already setup stuff? can we just like know what plans are in motion?

I hope there are still plans to make the zaptrocuter work with the possessed chassis, it's a great way to tie certain parts of the skill tree together.

In general as well, I hope we can receive more communication for future updates. This has been a very chaotic beta, and while I'm happy with how it's ending up getting there was quite rocky.

people who arent part of the forums will be confused about a non-beta release with a "finished" skill line that didnt feel good then it got changed. at least this way it wont be a negative shock when the skill line is changed unexpectedly it will be a positive experience that the skill line is now avalible

Yeah I thought the Shadow Affinity skill was fine as is other than needing a use for Pure Horror, I hope nothing gets removed and there is just additions.

Klei has frequently made adjustments to the content after release. If it comes out with the caveat that the affinity is still a WIP I don't see why there'd be any confusion. It just seems like a very strange choice to lock it up entirely while they work on improvements.

I think you could take inspiration from broken clockworks with how nightmare fuel is pouring out of them! Even though it's just a visual thing, I think the idea of nightmare fuel leaking out of WX could have cool ideas formed from it!

While I am bummed about Shadow being locked out at launch this does give me reassurance. I respect the desire to release a product you’re happy with rather than something unfinished. As a Shadow Servitor loyalist I’ll be waiting with great interest :)

From the way it’s been worded it sounds like it’s going to be aesthetic changes and the addition of pure horror, I don’t think it’ll be too significantly altered gameplay wise
