Years ago when I asked the question about FPS limit in DST, I got criticized by some users who said, “Good art doesn’t have to have high frame rates.” I definitely agree with that for frame-based drawings like Cuphead, but not for sprite-based games like DST.

For DST, when using high quality displays, you can notice the low frame rate of characters in the game. You can try using DLSS technology to see the difference in visuals which makes them so snappy, but because of how DLSS works, the generated frames often look bad and the input delay is huge, which makes it unplayable. I wouldn’t recommend playing like that. Also, I find it somewhat “disrespectful” to use those kinds of technologies on games like DST that rely on a hand-drawn art style.

I have the same concerns about DSE. What will the character animation FPS be locked at? I’m not expecting it to be unlimited, but I believe it should be around...

I usually use Lossless Scaling to play at smooth 144 fps, since it generates frames and it makes the animations 144fps instead of 60fps, but it introduces a bit of delay ON TOP of the caves delay. It would be nice if the animations were at more fps natively.
