The thing is that these are not official translations, the only official ones are two chinese packs, and in the options for other languages you are instead redirected to wrokshop translation mods, some of which aren't up to date, for example out of 3 mods for polish language, the most recent that has been updated was like 1,5 year ago.

that is super interesting. i did check and i see what you are saying though it also also says there are 6 more language packs than listed on the steam page. i rescind my screencap then!

DST is really a pain to translate: 85.000 strings, most of them character quotes, a lot of wordplay, jokes and rhymes you can't translate (or at least not that easy, because you have to be very creative to find something fitting). I think this won't be much different in DSE. It is only translated in chinese because it is a really huge market. In the game files there are translation files for many other languages, but they aren't active because they are translated by a machine, often wrong because of missing context. I think even AI couldn't make a good translation.

I mean why you never translate your dont starve games klei? do any of the forumites here know the answer? cause i wanna know please.

It translates into more languages on consoles. So the question is, why do they do it with the PC version if everything is already ready on consoles?

Because the translations are bad. They are only a stopgap because there are no mods on consoles.

I hope so, along with more accessibility tools. For a game that still gets updates in 2026 it is kind of crazy. Klei is indie, but they aren't small. Pretty sure, though not certain, they can contract this kind of work to knowledgeable translators within the industry.
