Which weapon do you use with this armor set? I feel like this set is in a weird spot especially after the rifts. It's kind of a sidegrade of the void and brightshade sets but it has less planar defense and it's missing its complimentary weapon in exchange of speed and damage boosts.

I like the speed and damage and I main Winona so the repair cost is a non-problem (which is a huge part of why i prefer this set). But I'm having hard time picking a go-to weapon for it. I've been using the shadow maul recently but I'm missing out the void cowl buff. Does the warbis head gear damage boost make up for it? Do you think warbis set needs a weapon or is it fine like this?

I’ve used warbis on and off again, i too enjoyed the cheap repair cost.

Warbis head gear is bad vs planar defense but good if vs non planar defense if you use a physical weapon. Thats a somewhat narrow niche, and it’s competing vs the enlightened crown for damage which I think it’s always going to lose for bosses.

The flip side is that warbis body is more generally useful than brightshade or void armor. I used wigfrid, charged elding spear or ranged, warbis body, and the crown, and was pretty happy. The “good generic item” loadout.

It's not necessary. And if the devs did make it, they'd also have to make a dreadstone weapon to maintain symmetry between them.

It's worth remembering that glass cutter recently received a QOL update. And with lunar hail, it's easier to craft than a dark sword.

One of the most powerful combinations in the late game. Damage bonus, speed bonus, and a good protection factor (85% +5).

I used to do the same till I got humbled by a shark in the ruins. Now I only use the other post rift armors. Warbis armor is really good though esp if youre a more experienced player.

You know what, I didn't think its counterpart was the dreadstone set since the nightmare werepig is a relatively early boss compared to celestial champion, it makes sense though. But aren't glass cutters bad against post rift content? Do you rely on gestalt damage for the enemies with planar defense?

They are indeed bad for planar monsters. But for this specific phase of the game we have several (really good) weapons with planar effects and repairability [Brightshade Sword, Brightshade Staff, Shadow Reaper, Gloomerang, Shadow Maul, Ham Bat 3.0 (Beefalo Nightmare Saddle)].

With the jewelry upgrade, yes.

But of course, the context of the boss or mob will dictate whether or not to use the crown. For monsters that stay still in one place for a while (Ancient Fuelweaver, Crab King, Celestial Champion, Dragonfly, etc.), the crown works well. For monsters that move around a lot, another combination tends to be better (Bee Queen).

Like most people, I pretend warbis gear doesn't exist because by the time I unlock it, I'm already drowning in armor and headwear options.

Bro came to the "For WARBIS Users" thread to say "I don't use WARBIS"

Only the body armour matters and in that case the weapon doesnt mattter.

The headgear is only good with Wanda, which wont be the case in her skilltree, and some of Walters bullets.

I usde the body armour only since its a better magi.

Damage is damage. Doing 1-2 more cycles against some things is not very impactful most of the time, and for bosses where it would matter you could place appropriate equipment near or have catapults make up for the difference.

The main problem is coming up with the logistics if you would care to use them, which is something that also applies to the other options you have.

Once I have jewels, I transition to crown + warbis armor w/ brightshade sword. At 68+51 damage (if the gestalts don't miss), this absolutely overshadows the maul (though it's still useful situationally). Of course, also pairing it with the brightshade staff for certain scenarios. It's a very good armor piece since it functions like a magi, but you need to gain the speed bonus by fighting the same unit over time (downside being that you lose the bonus if you switch targets, or go too far). So it's great for certain bosses i.e warbot/scion.

as a maxwell main as much as I want to make this work I have to use the void robe to not lose too much duelist damage (Also these warbis things lose tracking apparently!?)

Seems like maxwell starts to fall off after a while lol, the crown pre-scion already synergizes terribly

There are characters that are more suited to the dark side, and Maxwell is one of them. Maxwell's maximum power comes from loot in AFW. I don't know what his skill tree will be like, but he always has a strong connection to the dark side. Wormwood, for example, has his skill tree linked only to the lunar side, as far as I remember.

Maxwell is on Charlie's team.

It clears the early game and I always use it until WARBIS set but I also find it too gimmicky and annoying. Even if you can keep your sanity full by chugging tons of sanity food, it takes a good while to be repaired.

While I don't use WARBIS armor, I know a lot of friends that do appreciate it. There's a reason speed boosting items for combat get a very good reputation, and it's why the magi is one of the most popular pre rift options despite not offering any protection at all. Even it's immediate boost is on par with a club, and it only takes 20 seconds to be 50% better than a magi.

Most combat encounters even later on are still physical damage based, so the lesser planar defense isn't as important compared to it being 25% more protective against hits than the other planar armor pieces. Wearing the rift helm (which you are probably going to be doing anyway) gives the best of both worlds, as 85% protection and 15 planar defense is pretty sufficient for most encounters.

I do wish the helmet was more desirable, though. I would have loved if it's gimmick was particularly empowering non planar weapons, especially with doing things like reducing durability wear and even giving a bit of planar damage to weapons that lack it.

at least no kits are required, its good both early and late game no reason to drop them for warbis unless this thing gets a buff or rework
