Anyway my opinion is similar most the time. These riff updates just feel like a bad event i have to sit through until we get something outside of riffs. Theres a concept but it doesnt work for dst, and i dont like its inclusion in the game, it ruined endgame for me.

It doesnt work for a multiplayer focused game especially, where many players are left behind by the world progressing rather than progressing their own character.

The good parts. Fumarole biome is great, i love it. I love the boulder trees(which might be inspired by my idea ofnsprout moles?). I wish the smog wasnt post riffs though, the biome feels empty without it.

Skilltrees often are decent, but even some of the best ones have big flaws.

My favourite skilltrees are Wortox, Wormwood, Walter, and Maybe Winona. Big improvements, even if wormwood has some bad design.

I would like Wendy as a favourite. if they didnt make it worse in some aspects in the beta. Why did they ruin the shadow alignment, and why did they change the cool health increase to a clunky "takes less damage from bosses".

Least favourite is Wolfgang skilltree, and Wurts. These skilltrees just double downed on the design flaws of the characters and made them worse designed. The rest are either servicable or eh for me.

Give a summary or somethin.

Like is hostile takeover part 2 the update that adds vultures? If so why doesnt pearl count?

my basis was the developer log threads, which strangely does not have the last skill trees, which to me felt like they released december (*of last year)

Im also assuming people have played these updates vicariously enough that a summary would not suffice

Granted, i doubt it matters, late poll, missing items, just use it yo continue vent or smth i suppose

I’m going to wait and see what Klei announces for the official 10 year anniversary of DST (they went big for DS’s) to see what if anything actually comes of that, there’s some strange things going on that I can’t quite figure out.. ;)

Spoiler

The above spoiler is from the Xbox Cloud Gaming App, so Technically… you can Stream Don’t Starve, Shipwrecked & Hamlet from your mobile smart phone that finger icon on the far right means you can play the game without a controller using the phones touch screen.

This is interesting because as you can see, DS + It’s DLCs are already capable of doing this, but DST does NOT have the touch screen play option.. (yet)

Perhaps the most exciting take away from the above image: Is that Hamlet is playable on mobile devices (aka there is no Hamlet App on smartphones only DS+SW)

Does this mean “Hamlet” is finally coming to mobile as an app? 🤷🏻‍♂️ But I did find it interesting to discover this.

I’ve had a lot of fun with all the content added this year and warbot is probably now my favourite boss.
I do wish rifts were a little more impactful or atleast led to more.

ancient echos has set the ground work for some interesting developments later this year and I’m excited to see where the future of this game goes.

I am a little let down at the lack of skill trees added this year because I really want them to be done with but so long as they’re being worked on I’d like to think the rest will all be strong additions especially as the characters that are getting them are some of the characters that need them the most (Webber, warly and wickerbottom)

I am unsatisfied with DST's state but not because I didn't like the updates, I actually did like all of them, but because the console version has had so many issues in 25 that I would say it's been by far the worst year ever in terms of game stability, players constantly losing progress and the game not saving and the loss of dedicated servers for most of the year (with the same instability whenever they did 'work') .

Wish they did squish at least two more skill trees in last year honestly but okay it is what it is, hopefully they can finish it this year. Fingers crossed.

Walter just made my 2025 with the skill tree as a highlight

I think that Walter Skill tree ended up showing a problem among most, if not all, skill trees. Hence why we got no skill trees this year.

Which is that the "tree" part of the skill tree is not so great when compared to what Walter got, where you can basically put points wherever you like and the only "tree-like" parts are worth the points invested. Imagine for example, that you could only get woby snacks if you had the drying rack perk or the rift ammo after getting all "tiers" of ammo types.

The Walter skill tree was my favorite thing to come in 2025 by a long shot.

I take credit for his skill tree :wilsoalmostangelic:, a lot of my suggestions made it into the skilltree.

Had to fight hard for my boi to get the skilltree he deserved as a long time Walter main im glad that Klei didnt drop the ball with him.

He was in a way worse state than the other chars. Not every tree has to have the same jouj up.

Can't say I play DST enough to remember what each update was about, but I do remember we got Geometric Placement in 2025, so I'm happy~

Background optimizations to let them prepare more future content better are also always appreciated, even if not exactly something we can see in-game.

Can't say I care much about updates that deliver more post-rift content, but I do think the Pearl update was pretty great~

From just some bosses, even. The damage reduction isn’t even consistent across all bosses!

EDIT: i voted for ancient echoes 2 as worst solely because of racks rotting in rain, but all the updates were fine to me. Now finish those skilltrees, klei!
