myxal
Just a small-ish utility build for resources I like to hoard (I'm sure those 100t of nat-gas will came in handy one day, somewhere...). Builds shown are actually from an inhabited planet, and have required consumers (SPOM, gas range etc.) down the line, supplied first. Also great for uninhabited planets where byproducts accumulate (*cough* Experiment 52B) Dump gases/liquids into appropriate rocket cargo tank Notifier for player-performed emptying Efficient filling, avoiding non-full packets Spoiler Alternative setup with a reservoir: Spoiler 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169246-doing-infinite-storage-the-safe-way/ Share on other sites
Zarquan
If you want to do this earlier but less conveniently for liquids, you can also use normal liquid reservoirs. When they become full, you order the dupes to change the material the reservoir is made of, which triggers a rebuild. Less efficient (requires dupe labor but only one player command), but works earlier in the game and without power. Doesn't work for gases though. I use setups like this for building up oxygen and hydrogen reserves for space travel, allowing me to have easy oxygen and hydrogen power when I land on an asteroid. You could do the same with your natural gas. Ceos
Another alternative (for inhabited planets) is now that there are gas and water bottlers and injectors you can make a Dupe frustrater to collect lots of gasses or liquids. My current design is not well optimized but works. Dupe detectors and a firepole make sure they can't get where they are going even on 3x speed. I turn off the request and open the doors when I need to move the oxygen someplace (my current rocket oxygen method). High in dupe labor but really easy and it builds up over time quite nicely. Could probably be scaled with multiple levels so more dupes get tasks but I did not need to. For uninhabited there is the canister filler trick of just changing the storage capacity to 0 then back up to 200 drops the contents with not dupe interaction. High in human work but with 12 clicks on 6 fillers in series you can get gasses to plie up and be ready for eventual colonization. Thanks for sharing your build great stuff and really good automation for easy high storage backup... also with the ability to add more modules could get crazy large storage. -Ceos 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169246-doing-infinite-storage-the-safe-way/#findComment-1847579 Share on other sites

With copy settings, you can have one set to 0 and one set to 200 that aren't hooked up. Then you can copy settings and draw a large number of canisters to set them to 0, then again with the 200 one to set them to 200. You also don't actually need floors under them, so I build this in the early game to stockpile oxygen and hydrogen canisters for my space program: I just retired this setup because I switched to a rocket cargo tank setup, but this was effective and netted me tons of oxygen and hydrogen, which I loaded on to my steam rocket to use as oxygen and power.
