Is Pearl Seriously Meant to Eat Dried Tea Ingredients?

I was torn over whether to post this in the bug tracker because if it were intentional then it makes the large drying racks almost entirely impractical to use.

While loaded, Pearl picks stuff off of the drying racks and eats them. This includes anything dryable, meat, kelp, fish, or tea ingredients. So in order to safeguard foods for making tea I have been drying it away from her house and then carting the dried ingredients over to a chest at her tea shop.

I feel like this should be seriously reconsidered because it means that we can't reliably use the large drying racks for tea materials since they are always within range of Pearl and as such are susceptible to being eaten before they can be harvested and stored. Considering I don't use the racks for drying anything that I would want to eat for the very same reasons, compounded with the reality that I can only build them close to Pearl, it means I'm effectively unable to consistently use the large drying racks for anything. This can't be intended, right?

How about this: she picks dried tea ingredients and either keeps them in a personal inventory which can be accessed at the tea shop, or she Wobot's them into a nearby chest.

I forgot she even does this.

It's been so long since I haven't just immediately imprisoned her in stone walls or a fence, only letting her out once so she can sit on a wooden chair for a second.

"Time in the yard" as a tiny break in her solitary confinement.

wait... which part? being able to build the improved racks where we would like to after unlocking them or pearl eating things off the racks we make?

I believe rack limitation is sadly intended. I believe it was in reference to Pearl eating things off of the built racks.
