After shadow side arc is concluded, please do QoL updates, finish character skilltrees and more world challenges/world generations and ruins rework

I really feel indifferent to rift content right now. I feel like it's a mess, but we need some housekeeping done for DST in general. New beta does some of that and plus some new tools.

But my thought is that we need to have finished what was already started and what has been asked for the most. World generation, skill trees, challenges to test us in different ways we could play.

Some things, like mushroom regrowth, should be tweaked some. Add renewability to grass tufts and the rest of non-renewable plants to have a way to be obtained. Many characters still need skill trees so they could feel actually good to be played in rift content worlds.

Slurtles still need a way to reproduce new dens, caves could use a makeover and ruins generation like Sanctum was such a hyped idea that I bet many would enjoy randomized ruins and more to them than just clockworks and shadows.

We got some rift weapons but the normal ones don't seem to get much use when dealing with that content, old weapons fall off quick when they don't deal damage.

More magic could be introduced, followers could get an update to help with the base chores more. One man band upgrade to a war-band to boost your solo army, firestaffs with more explosive effects, purple staffs with more disorientation or stunning enemies with, a whip that would become stronger via thulecite improvements to summon tenticles to fight like club but more often.

There's many great options after this, I just hope we can take a break from rifts a bit, it's a lot as is rn, even if it feels like but a smidge of what's probably being planned.

If you think about it, it's kinda insane that they're focusing on RIFT content before every single character got adequate skill trees which would include planar skills...

It's like working on the roof first and then the base of the house...

Considering the history, perhaps after finishing everything (From Beyond and Skill Spotlight) the devs will leave a 2-year hiatus until the next arc.

I would not be opposed to them spending next year finishing up the last character skill trees, doing balance changes, and QoL. Especially since, when they finish all the skill trees, they can go back and fix some.

Personally, I've noticed people seem to care the most about characters.

What's most insane is the inclusion of skill trees. So it was more like they were finishing the roofing, decided, "Eh, sure" started adding solar panels then realized they should finish the roof first. That's how I see it personally.

To be fair the first skill tree we got was actually disguised as Wilson's "rework". So we didn't know we were getting character updates #2 when the first rift content dropped on April 2023. It was only when Woodie/Wormwood/Wolfgang skill tree update dropped during July 2023 when Klei truly started juggling the two update paths

So yeah, the rift content is what Klei should be focusing on and the skill trees are the strange addition

I was more so referring to skill trees being "base" or "core" DST and Rifts being the optional hardmode. Hence why I say that skill trees should be the priority.
