I am playing don't starve together on console, so l can't use mods, and health bar is a very important thing that should be added to the game long ago, health bar is a verey importan in dst experience, and that will help making the game less difficult by knowing the health of your enemy, please add this feature to the game, this game is so wonderful and fun.

nah, but i would like something creative, for example an update to warbis armor to see enemies health analyzing the mobs. A new effect to see enemies health using auras or something interesting sounds a lot better than just a plain health bar.

But im not gonna lie i like the item spider mod from TBOI. And dont worry klei is pretty creative, i think they can add some new effect to see enemies health. :)

Been discussed a few times already, and my position is the same.

I think it would be a good addition. Can always make it a toggle on the options that is off by default for people who prefer the original experience.

Absolutely agree with this. I think it will be an amazing addition for players who aren’t used to fighting bosses and will allow them to practice and fight bosses efficiently. While having the toggle option still means everyone can have their own agency.

Health bars are a pretty divisive topic around here I believe.

Personally I wouldn't mind if bosses with 10k or more health got a health bar, as kind of a distinction between a boss and a major boss. Although I think making it more clear when the boss is healing would be better than health bars.

If the devs ever fulfill this recurring request, I hope there will be options to disable it, enable it only for giants, and another option for any enemy. Personally, I think it would be a bad experience to see health bars on enemies that group together (bees, spiders, pigs, rabbits).

why does this forum keep discussing the same thing over and over again

To be honest that's kinda every place I see dst talked about. Everywhere cycles the same handful of topics until an update drops, then it gets added to the cycle of talked about things.

It so upsetting any time this is brought up it's always the same arguments (Especially considering the majority of people, especially here probably use some sort of mod/mod list).

"No it makes the game easy" HOW? How does seeing something as trivial as a health bar make something "Easy"? If anything it's the opposite; the amount of people I've seen die in other games like Dark Souls/Elden because they see the health bar is all but gone and go "I can sneak a hit in and finish it" instead of just keeping with the mechanics. .

"I don't like health bars". Ok and? If it's an optional feature you don't have to use it. Just like you can use cheat codes in GTA, mods in other games, turn on/off vibration, FOV, accessibility settings, admin commands in Ark. It's not like there is a fundamental flaw in design with the game it would simply be a QOL feature, because I see people use the "If you want or have to use x it's a game design flaw". It is simply nice to see how much health something has.

It's as simple as like what they did with the grid. Simply make it an option to toggle. It's that damn simple but instead we have these sort of "Purist" people (Not specially pointing anyone here out just in general) against a QOL feature that they wouldn't even have to use to begin with. I just don't get it.

I have Grid now on console so I can actually build a nice base and stuff now, but this would be the cherry on top. Hopefully one day or as others have stated at the very least for "Boss" enemies.

For what it's worth, it's not really making the game "easy", it's just making the game "easier".

It's different from a game like Dark Souls, because Dark Souls 3/Elden Ring (Dark Souls 1 and 2 not so much) are games that heavily punish you for getting hit even once, so trying to desperately sneak in a single hit can actually ruin the run... While in Don't Starve fights are much more controlled and getting hit once won't lead to you getting comboed to death.

So... Essentially, what this means is that there is no real risk associated with, "I can sneak a hit in and finish it", because you know the boss' damage output, and you know your health/armor. As in, because it's a much safer move in DST, having access to information the boss' health does allow you to make your decisions about how you approach your fight better, which makes the game easier.

... Do I think it's a big deal? Not really. Like... Yeah, it does make things easier, but the fundamental combat loop is still the same... It's something that is mostly relevant when fighting multiple mobs (so you can more easily track which ones are damaged) and when you are in a fight where your resources are running out and you're unsure if you should keep fighting or retreat... On most other situations, the health bar will mostly be a convenience thing, not so much as a tool that makes things easier.

So uhn... I do think the complaint about it making the game easier is a bit overblown, but it's definitely a truthful complaint. I just don't think it makes things much easier, so it would be more of a convenience thing than anything... Well, that, and also a good tool for new players to find out that some bosses heal, because they won't really know that the boss heals without checking the wiki or something.

Much worded better than me yeah. I can see that for sure!
