Hello friends, I have played a whole lot of WX-78 in my time not starving, and I would like to share a few things I have learned. Mostly for the people who maybe haven't tried the little robot, or want to know more about him. I hope this is the right sub-forum for it, I'm sorry if it isn't.

First off I want to talk about rain, which can be tricky, when you join a world already in progress sometimes. For a long time I thought I needed to find silk and pig skin, in order to make an umbrella at a science station, but a straw hat (20%), a pretty parasol (50%), and standing under a tree(35%) gives you over 100% rain protection total, which is more than enough to dry off. And walking around with the 70% rain prot from your items, is enough to last a few minutes even in heavy rain.

Scanning a bunny for an acceleration circuit can also be a hassle. I've seen many robots chase them for several minutes at times. If you wait until night time, the bunny will sleep and stay in place. If you don't want to wait until night, then you can just go to a corner of the map, put down the bunny, and stand behind it so it will run towards the ocean.

If you want to catch a firefly, in order to make the optoelectronic circuit (night vision), you also don't have to wait until night and can just go to the caves instead. Many cave entrances will have fireflies around, and they are visible and catchable at any time of day.

Scanning a rook for the super-acceleration circuit, is the only scan that doesn't give enough bio data in order to craft the circuit. So if you go ruins rushing, make sure to scan a slurper or depth worm on the way, since you might have to wait for nightmares to show up, or hope for earthquake mole RNG, to get the bio data you need.

When equipping the electrification circuit, you want to be careful around fruitflies and grassgators. Most creatures that drop leafy meat will ignite when getting zapped by lightning. The flies and the gators are the only creatures that will burn, when they attack you while wearing that circuit (saladmanders are immune to fire, and lureplant eyeballs don't ignite, even though they are flammable).

The refrigeration circuit will make items spoil 25% slower in your inventory, but won't affect the items in your backpack. Likewise the thermal circuit will make items spoil 25% faster, but won't affect your backpack.

If you want ice, but currently have no mini glaciers around, you can throw 5 waterballoons on yourself, while wearing the fridgeration circuit. When reaching max wetness, you will reset to 0% wetness and drop 2 ice. I know it's very niche, but might help out if you didn't collect ice before summer started. This way you can get the ice required for a flingo from two stacks of mosquito sacks.

If you want to switch circuits, but don't want to wait too long for the charge to regenerate, you can wait until you're starving (or eat some rot to make yourself starve), and extract your circuit when it loses the first charge, so it isn't powered anymore. That way you only lose 1 charge, instead of all the charges that were connected to the circuit. A charge regenerates after 1.5 minutes, so in this picture I saved myself 4.5 minutes of not being fully charged. Can be crucial especially for circuits that provide light.

I really enjoy the night vision and speed combo (as I'm sure many WX mains do), but once celestial champion is dead, and permanent full moons are unlocked on most worlds, I really have gotten to love these circuit combinations:

1) Super-hardy circuit, super-gastrogain circuit, super-acceleration circuit. One big health circuit more than doubles your hp, which lets you be much more careless, and gives a lot of room for error. With one big hunger circuit WX doesn't have to eat for almost 4 days, and big speed is just always amazing. I really enjoy this combo when I spend a lot of time base building, since it allows me to almost forget about hunger.

2) Super-hardy circuit, electrification circuit, super-acceleration circuit. Switching the hunger circuit for a lightning circuit provides amazing crowd-control now. Not only does the lightning stun also affect bosses, but it also spreads through groups of enemies that are standing close together.

Lastly I want to recommend crafting a personal floater, when going for treasure hunts or fighting ocean bosses, because it is extremely cheap (1 mosquito sack + 1 rope), and it lets you recover to closeby shores or other boats. Since WX loses max hp when drowning, this item really is a godsend. In this picture I managed to waddle from my boat over to the shore, only losing ~30hp and gaining 50 wetness in the process.

I love this little hateful guy, and I'm sure you will aswell, if you don't already play him. He is the king of convenience, and has a circuit for almost any situation, and I find his quotes absolutely hilarious.

Thank you Klei for this awesome automaton. ❤️

Nice guide, it was easy to read and it adds some nice tips there.

Lately I’ve been thinking that for the current state of the game, WX is a decent well rounded character for solo play, despite not having a skill tree.
Do you use the chorusbox circuit or the regeneration circuit? I have trouble finding uses for those.

The regeneration circuit seems highly undertuned IMO mostly because WX gets way longer use of healing food (full healing even if very spoiled) which means that you’ll get a lot mire mileage out of those 10 perogi you made a season ago. And later he gets almost free use of gears (and if you let yourself die every once and then after you’ve been eating gears for a while, you get a lot of gears back in exchange for a life amulet or an effigy)
I think considering he gets some of the easiest forms of healing in the game, the circuit seems too slow and redundant, it could be buffed a bit.

Thank you very much. 😘

I do use the chorusbox from time to time. Mostly when I want to farm some crops, since the circuit automatically talks to plants, or when I go treasure hunting on the ocean. Spending extended periods of time on the ocean, can leave you with low sanity, and I find the ocean shadow creatures a bit annoying to deal with. The chorusbox completely negates that threat, with its mighty 40 sanity regeneration per day, while also providing you with a sweet tune. I do hope Klei will enable WX to use records, while that circuit is equipped, so I don't have to listen to ragtime every single time, though. 😅

I absolutely agree with you on the beanbooster circuit, I don't find it all that useful either. On paper it looks ok, since it regenerates 80 hp per day, but it feels very underwhelming in practice. Like you said, there are more than enough healing sources for WX.

Beanbooster takes SO long JUST to pay off the royal jelly used to make it(360 worth of hp in jellybeans, which do not require you to sacrifice half your electric slots to use)

Agreed. I'd rather chug some jellybeans with good healing when I need them, than turn them into a circuit that constantly provides me with low healing.
