Currenly plaing Webber and collecting some ideas which I think could be interesting. Might admit the character itself is quite unique and strong, and my ideas are not about balancing it - they might be OP probably, but I want to brainstorm and make something VERY INTERESTING. It's obvious we'll have something with numbers, like make more cookies with same ingridients, so I don't want to mention it. And I won't touch a spider-lag problem here, I hope developers will take care of it.

1. Spider network (probably requires 3-6 skillpoints to unlock)  - allows webber to telepot between tier 3 spider nests on the map. Probably this will require some sort of crafting, or at least making a spider nest friendly, because we don't want Spider Queens spawning from our set up.

2. Many-handed - allows Webber to utilize his extra hands (3-4 skill points). Just gives an extra hand slot where Webber can either keep some no-action item (umbrella, torch). Devs can also make some extra skill points to give an opportunity to wear tools and thus chop/mine faster with 2 axes, or deal extra damage with two weapons, but the key here is mostly to use extra hands somehow because it's a spider after all)))

3. Web sack (1 point) -  one of the major problems is to bring spiders with you between shards, so crafting something with web to wrap your spiders and unwrap it in one click sounds reasonable. Alternatively webber could be allowed to stack spiders of the same type in his inventory (e.g. by 5), but a container seems more natural.

4. Web (3 points) - some control option, like a web from a book which allows Webber to create a web on the ground to slow enemies.

5. Net  (1-3 points) - another farm/control option would be a crafrable "net" item which Webber can throw in order to catch an enemy. Maybe Webber can only catch small creatures this way, like birds, rabbits, etc. And maybe if could be used for fishing also. It would be a nice untility option. If allowed to use on larger creatures - it will become a combat option too.

6. With the Queen (should be a lot of points)  - this is hilarious but I believe this will be so fun if they'll allow Webber to mount the Queen. It could a mounted combat option which requires almost no tame-effort, but the Spider Queen could transform into a nest at any moment (or at low health), and it can't be bonded to any item so if not mounted, it could simply walk away.

Please add your ideas which will bring more fun and unique spider features to the gameplay)

I had an idea for a simple skill that could solve the "spiders checking every frame to find something edible" problem would be to make befriended spiders not eat any meat off of the ground. You can stop them from eating meat by quickly blowing the whistle, but it's not all that consistent.

According to our Wizard hoxi, it’s already some optimized.

Seems like the last update pushed some optimizations for spider brains (except water spiders, as those use a separate brain file) to now use food tags to search for food, rather than checking for many entities manually.

Them (as well as water spiders) and a bunch of other entities that the player can "trade" with (give an item) now have a less expensive check as well to check if a player wants to trade with them and stay put.

It'd also be cool if he got skills that made switcherdoodles cheaper and gave you more per craft. Maybe split it into 3 skills, the first cutting costs in half, the second giving one extra cookie per craft, and the third giving two extra per craft. I feel they're a cool part of his kit, but are held back by expensive costs and only allowing you to transform one spider at a time. It's honestly more efficient to just get spiders from their respective area most of the time.

Please no. Waste of a skill, let alone 3. Rebalance the costs if needed. A skill to AoE transform is reasonable.

Nurses are excessively cheap for what they are. Spitters are useful, but too expensive via switcherdoodle. Shattered are reasonable after lunar hail. The rest of them are variously expensive, but the real problem is that those spiders just plain suck by comparison.

I foresee this 100% being part of his skill kit, and i think it's a good idea, but I think that there is issue with the concept of halving the crafting costs (although maybe this is appropriately weak for a tier 1 piece of a larger branch). A lot of switcherdoodle ingredients are just one of each thing, but they're still like. annoyingly sparse/valuable to the point that this deters webber from ever entertaining them further than nurse ones.

Maybe tier 3, instead of giving you an extra extra, could transform multiple spiders at a time like you said? I think that'd be pretty cool, but then the natural thought for me after that is wow, i wish you could split up spiders into groups like pikmin so you could transform them easier hypothetically. many such thoughts.

How much longer why don’t all players have two hand slots it’d be one thing we could fall forward on moving in the game, but we can’t fly by know

A skill and a Weber skill tree I making do you think I should replace it:

  • Switcherdoodle stretching: efficiently use ingredients to make 3 times that amount of switcherdoodles when crafted (@Creatingabe1125’s idea)

I've always wanted Webber to be more Pikmin-like. I want the webby whistle to stay as is, because being able to call back your spiders instantly without haggling with a spell wheel is too important to give up. But, add a second whistle that is a spell wheel. This second whistle will be for the Pikmin command stuff, having the spiders stand in a formation, having them retarget onto an enemy, make them run away from enemies, and maybe even have them carry items back to a chosen den like Woby does for chests. I would also like if spiders would share switcherdoodles, but only basic spiders would share, that way you can turn 3 normal spiders into nurses, but you won't turn your spitters or other important spiders into nurses.
Also klei PLEASE make warrior spiders immune to fear, that switcherdoodle is SO expensive and warriors are not all that useful.

If it's Pikmin style, I'd like to see spiders be able to go into your hand slot. Make them a combination tool: a throwable weapon that sticks to its target and makes them panic + damage, but also be like Bernie in that just holding it in your hands offers passive benefits.

Yo @Creatingabe1125 after we get the affinities and figuring out how to fit the crafts and with which skill because I’m having trouble figuring out where to put the travel den now that we have two totems filling up all the slots for the two crafting skills, especially since it relies so much on the care craft skill I’m wondering if maybe I should just bite the bullet and make a for craft skill, but if the number of crafts is equal between the silk crafts and the care crafts, then you might as well put both totems in one skill, and that would make it five crafts, which is a little too much for one skill, but anyways, I’m getting off topic. Do you think we should add this person‘s idea as one of the skills

Jokes aside, I love this idea so much. While I don't consider him using tools faster a good solution, I'd say it would just save players small trouble of swaping to required tools. But hey I really would like to see this!

I would really like a way to move a big army of spiders easily, you know i dont like to use lots of backpacks to move spitters from caves to surface. We all know the switcherdoodles are only good for making nurses, for all the other spiders is better to just get them from their spawns so maybe a way to craft new specialized spider eggs could be cool. this way i can put some special eggs near bosses and even if the boss kills all my spiders with an AoE new spiders are gonna come and i would be able to overwhelm the boss with an infinite army. I like webber he feels like playing with zergs.

Another thing that could be cool is a skill to create a webbing zone, making webbing trees to give silk when chopped and boosting spiders speed and even having special properties like making farmland permanent wet, so webber can help with farming too, and another skill to make new spider oil that no webber players can use to walk normal in the webbing zone for like 10 minuts.

I had a cool idea I drew a while back, I think it would serve this function very well. Basically its a backpack spider den that holds spiders and lets you call out and store them with Webbers existing tools. It can also gain additional functionality with more skills like spiders running back in when low on health.
