So, Klei abandoned ONI.

No , if you see the history or the link they keep pushing updates, but seems like only in the dev branch internally , they didn't push it to steam.

Devs still mentioning next update. I hope something is planned. Next title Away Team is years away. Too early for abandoning current title IMO. I'm just coping.

P.S. I wish I could edit the topic to fix spelling.

Could be Away Team a " teaser " for they new engine for ONI 2 ? we talk about this in another post but ..

For what I see maybe im wrong but Kleis best seller games are Oni and Dont Starve and I dont see any reason why they will stop updating them. They will have to make an announcement like a roadmap or future plans, if updates are going to be delayed, on a hiatus, or straight up end of life LOL. They may focus more on Away Team but we dont know that.

Unlikely. They did 90% of the work and the game is timeless. ROI for any DLCs will be much better than on new games.

Plus, the team seems to really like working on ONI. The only way it would make sense to abandon it is if somebody wanted to squeeze Klei dry and then let them die. Somehow I do not see that happening.

I certainly hope so.

However, official sales numbers are not (much) available, especially for the DLCs so far.

While I believe they sold reasonably well, I am not sure how that will continue. Of course, I hope it will work, similar to games like Stellaris, which has had a large number of DLCs so far.

Aside from that, I think Klei should start changing or improving some fundamentals or mechanics of the game. I remember Klei hinting at that in one post before. Multi-threading is another issue that is often mentioned, although the Unity engine seems to stand in that way (as far as I know).

Anyway, I am curious about the QOL update and the next DLC, which I assume will come out in December, ready for Christmas.

Yes , if they are gonna keep pushing DLC's , they will need to address this thing, because imagine having 10 dlcs and all running at the same time, bigger maps, bigger asteroids.

Maybe a space station DLC could be something ?

Wont happen IMO. Apart from Spaced Out which is in a category of its own, DLCs in this game mostly provide side-grades. For instance, there is currently four ways to get reed fiber equivalents: thimble reed, dreckos, bammoths, and rhexes. You only really need one of those and even if you mix your sources, the new footprint of one will diminish the needs of the other. All in all, it's a zero sum game.
