Hello everyone, with new content and new bosses and mobs, or by using existing content, we can add new tamable pets. And I'm not talking about adding abilities to pets, but simply adding new pets to spice things up. For example:

- Bee Pet - a pet that requires 1 Jelly Bean and 1 Captured Bee to craft. Crafted in Rock Den;

- Monkey Pet - a pet that requires 6 Bananas and 5 Cursed Trinkets to craft. Crafted in Rock Den;

- Worm Pet  - a pet that requires 1 Glowing Berry (from Depth Worm) and 1 rigged trunk to craft. Crafted in Rock Den;

- Ghost Pet - a pet that requires 1 Life-Giving Amulet and 7 Dread Fuel to craft. Crafted in the Rock Den;

- Spider Pet - a pet that requires 1 captured spider and 1 minced monster meat to craft. Crafted in the Rock Den;

- Mushroom Pet (similar to the Mush Gnome) - requires 1 mushroom pie and 3 mushroom spores to craft. Crafted in the Rock Den;

- Bird Pet (similar to Polly Roger, crows, canaries, and other birds) - requires a captured bird (for example, a canary) and 10 common seeds to craft;

- Gestalt Pet - a pet that requires 1 captured regular Gestalt in the Phasmo-Encapsulator and 3 Pure Brilliance to craft. It can be crafted in the Brightsmithy Kit;

- Horror Pet - a pet that requires 3 Pure Horror and 3 Dreadstone to craft. It can be crafted in the Shadowcraft Plinth Kit;

- Mechanical Pet - a pet that requires 6 Scrap Metal and 3 Gears to craft. It can be crafted in the Notional Fabricator.

What do you think of this idea? The pets are a bit odd, like the bird pet or the worm pet, but I think having a bird flying behind you, like some do, like Polly Roger, when you're wearing his hat, looks cool or a worm that follows you like the Great Depths Worm. As for the pets that need to be crafted at ndividual stations, I think it's more appropriate for them, since you can't create a mechanical, horror, or domesticated gestalt in the Stone Lair. So I chose more appropriate stations for their creation.

I actually have four more pet candidates:

- Seagull Pet. Craft: 1 Tall Scotch Egg and 1 Regular Egg;

- Crab Pet. Craft: 1 Caught Wobster and 1 Stuffed Fish Head;

- Sharkfish Pet. This idea was inspired by Sharkitten from Shipwrecked, but in the style of Frostjaw. Craft: 1 Ocean Fish and 1 Barnacle Nigiri;

- Plant Pet. This idea was inspired by Snaptooth Seedling from Hamlet, but in the style of Deadly Brightshade. Craft: 3 Brightshade Husks and 1 Caught Regular Gestalt in a Phasmo-Encapsulator.

All of these are crafted in the Rock Den.

i feel sad because i can't adopt another pet as walter.. surely i can get another friend

Of course, it's a shame that the only useful pet is the moth, which lights your way when fully fed. I've already written about possible pet abilities, but that thread is archived, so if you're interested, you can read it here:

Other then Monkey Pet requiring 5 cursed trinkets (A way to remove trinkets other then trading bananas to moon quay queen kinda defeats the purpose of cursed trinkets), and maybe Plant Pet requiring a captured gestalt (Compared to how much simpler getting a Horror Pet is, maybe mirror Horror Pet's recipe by having pure brilliance instead, and craftable at a brightsmithy), these are some very nice pet ideas...

Shame pets at the moment aren't very good, being that they are just a food sink on a timer of roughly 36~ minutes.

Regarding the monkey pet: you're right, but then you could make it so that when the monkey pet is abandoned, the cursed trinkets simply fall out and return to the owner. As for the plant pet, I still think a captured Gestalt would be more appropriate as the reason for the Deadly Brightshade's appearance than pure shine (besides, the Incursive Gestalt is a living Creature). It's like you're simply taming a regular Gestalt to a plant body.

It's more like pets are beginning to split depending on the world's development. Honestly, they remind me of the pets from Terraria 🤣

By the way, I want to show off my pet skin, so could you provide some small statues of pets...

:cower:

Ohh, this is a genius idea. Klei could add a buildable creature condo / house / post with a bowl where the player may park their pet until the food runs out. A statue could double as a post for leaving the pet in a chosen spot.

I seem to have seen such a design in other games.

Yes, I also realized more and more as I was typing that I was basically describing a feature from Core Keeper, haha. My initial idea was to give the player any ability to relieve themselves of their pet for a moment without having to abandon it at the Rock Den. On a third thought, there is already a feature like that in DST to suspend a pet, in the Catcoon menu mini-game in the TradeINN (https://dontstarve.wiki.gg/wiki/Trade_Inn#Collar_Me_Impressed) which has been there before the analogous feature appeared in Core Keeper.

I can just picture a suffering player (low sanity and hunger) in a base without a pet, left with hungry pets. And in their mind, they're thinking, "This is  Don't Starve Together, baby". But the idea is really good
