How to find the fumarole biome on megaworlds retrofit

Search for a wormhole in the caves

I explored around for a while, and the new biome is retrofit as a janky cave wormhole

If it takes a while try c_gonext("wormhole") and see

I found it funny that because my world is so old, I have a retrofitted grotto and fumarole biome right next to each other

Not sure if it will stay or not, since I need to rollback and do it again as the world regrowth tags were not properly set in the beta, and I kinda need those : (

where did you people find the wormhole? Maybe it'll help us console players narrow the search a little

i faintly remember the devs saying that it cant spawn in ruins and mud,

and in my world it was in the grassy area that spawns near cave entrances.

In my world, it was in the swamp, grass area and fungal noise forest.

So 2 things about this:

1. While I did remake the area on transition from the main to beta branch to set the proper tags, it turns out my fumarole biome spawned in the same place every time, but the wormhole position did change (I initially had it in my cave swamp, then it decided to spawn as far as possible from my base (not really too relevant because of thing 2)

2. Because of the recent fix for the retrofitted grotto and the retrofitted fumarole biome being so close, it is now possible for me to place a bridge to access the biome, and I have a teletransport station to warp to said retrofitted grotto to make the trek much easier. It wasn't technically required because a lazy explorer would work, but it makes it much funnier!

I have also found mine close to the nearest cave in from portal, maybe it's a pattern. It was in the mosaic mushroom one( very close to cave exit ).

I completely agree. This is The appropriate direction for today's cave world (you can no longer walk in the void, but you have The Lazy Explorer and Spelunker's Bridge Kit).
What an enviable situation!
