Highly curious about the Elytra and Artificer. They don't seem like callbacks, unlike Visionary. Maybe something runes related which i can't find

I hope there is more to come regarding these masks

ed. I do sort of expect the masks to be only utilitarian - for Elytra to provide some sort of protection, and for Artificer to be an enhanced construction amulet/deconstruction staff, and the intended coincidence is just the result of lore working backwards and history repeats itself etc. etc.

Here is a Modder's note that was forgotten in the initial post pertaining to changes to how we handle brains.

Spoiler
  • Brains

    • inst.brain:Start/Stop is deprecated

    • Use inst:StopBrain(reason) and inst:RestartBrain(reason) instead.

    • These changes will help the brain and state graph stay started/stopped properly based on all the different systems that may control it (Freezing, Sleeping, Drowning)

Miasma, acid rain

miasma is pretty overblown, its not an event that affects much of the world. acid rain is another feature that just requires you to use rain protection which is just slightly more inconvenient rain

two different dreadstone outcrop encounters

theyre essentially equivalent of fighting brightshades, its just that they have to be looked for and are available as soon as rift starts (its a plus for sure but not that much better since you still have to go to a fissure in the caves which can take long travel time if your cave entrances are in the back of the grassy area) as opposed to bshades just coming straight to you and can be anywhere you want them.

We can interact directly with shadow/ancients stuff meanwhile pretty much everything lunar is mediated through the annoying and lame wagstaff

thats the whole point of the 2 arcs, one is the old powers trying to grow more powerful while the other is new powers being awakened by survivors and wagstaff.

To me the case seems pretty cut and dry when it comes to which rift is more fleshed out and interesting.

both are dry as hell the bar is not that high lmao

ngl I think this new mechanic of like different floors on the archive chamber is awesome! Though more floors with unique loot or mobs would be pretty good, most floors are just "empty". I understand that its supposed to be more like a maze that "confuses the player", and I know that is probably too much to ask right now, but in the future, I think this new mechanic can be a huge improvement for caves if theres more floors with loot and all that!

  • Added a Fumarole area where an old companion of the Ancients will appear during the Shadow Rift.
    • Note: This area is not retrofitted yet. It will be in a later hotfix.
  • Added a Giant Whirlpool which tends to pull everything down with it.
    • Caves must be enabled for it to appear.
  • Added hidden rooms in the Caves that can be explored to uncover Ancient lore, that is if you can find the entrance…

this sounds like what the cave update sould have been

To be fair, aside from the ancient settlements (ruins, atrium, archives), the caves are essentially empty, a blank canvas to paint whatever you wish the rifts to do upon because nothing else goes on down there (the one other point of intrest being toadstool lmao). Compared with the surface that's got well, everything else.

And with how much people cry out over brightshades and even the pre-rift lunar storm, it's not surprising they let more creativity flow in the caves where people need to go out of their way to deal with.

It’s just funny how “going out of your way to deal with” is how you engage with content in a Survival based game.

I wish the surface shard of DST were set up more like the shipwrecked DLC, all you had to do was build a boat & sail to new horizons to find new or different contents.

Итак, когда же финал арки, в которой мы сражаемся с Чарли, у которого 200 000 единиц здоровья. 3 месяца на 3 дополнения — это безумная работа.

200.000 to low. I think we had 937.500.000 hp.

This is the FINAL BOSS ! The battle with her should last several real days. I really don't like another easy boss for 10 minutes... I need a cool boss fight for at least 50 hours of real combat. And when I die, the world should automatically be recreated...

SOO sad to see this go. Hands down was the only neat use for the whole mimic thing despite annoy us for not chest zone in places of interest

Really cool interaction, F

No. These are mobs that should make it difficult for you to play. Instead, they are the equivalent of the most powerful amulet in the game...

Man not only its called beta but they said it once again will be in parts. Is it really so hard to just wait till we get everything?

You gotta calm down, it was a question what are usable items added, not a complaint about the amount of content

I don’t think every update has to have something super super useful, myself as a Roguelike/Lite enjoyer: And with the DS franchise actually being advertised and sold under said gaming genre (Fun Fact: DS was the game that introduced me to what would later go on to become my favorite video game genre prior to DS/DST I had no idea what a RogueLite/Like was.. & ever since then: That has been almost EXCLUSIVELY the Genre of game that I play, Even the games that aren’t released as RogueLites end up getting a roguelite mode as DLC Content- TMNT Shredders Revenge Survival Mode is a certified RogueLite)

So it’s nice to see Klei add things you would generally expect from this genre of gaming: Like the new puzzle.

I hope they will incorporate more navigational puzzles, traps etc into the game in future updates. For the first time in a long time I’m actually excited for a DST update to come out.

Since I’m an Xbox player I’m going to be waiting quite awhile, but it’s such a breath of fresh air from all the tiny Arena boss fights with yet another Raid Boss. 🫶🏻

I’m going to spoiler tag this as it may spoil parts of the beta puzzle thing.

Spoiler

If Klei wants ideas and suggestions on how to improve this specific part of the game, add arrows or flaming balls of fire that launch from the side of walls that players will need to wait for and time dodging, Also since this is supposed to be a super late game puzzle: It isn’t unreasonable to ask that we actually give things like the Lazy Explorer I think it’s called? (Magic staff that teleports player) an actual decent use by adding large enough gaps that it will actually require using said soul hoping staff to reach the next platform it would be funny to see a player hop on a stone thinking it’s safe only for all platforms around them to crumble and the only way to escape is said longer distance reaching staff to reach a stone that was just out of jump distance. 😂

I'm guessing you're not being serious since you've said most bosses should only last about as long as their fight theme. Unless you want Klei to compose a 4-hour-long looping boss theme to go with it.

Полагаю, ты шутишь, раз говоришь, что большинство боссов должны длиться примерно столько же, сколько длится их боевая тема. Если только ты не хочешь, чтобы Клей сочинил для неё четырёхчасовую циклическую тему босса.

At the very least, Klei needs to rework the most delicious bosses like Deerclops. 1 attack and a lot of HP doesn't really sound like fun. And the music? Even indie developers allow themselves to create music in 2-5 minutes. DST, on the other hand, has boss music that lasts 30-70 seconds... It's... Well... It's not cool...

При всём уважении, это ужасная идея

This is a great idea. Especially when playing as a team.

I don't understand why Klei keep dedicating dev time on complicated things that don't change the experience instead of using the simpler solution. They essentially implemented a Hamlet-interior-like system yet only use it for this one thing, when they could've just shove everything to a corner of the map or something.

The art is great though, vault rooms are cool.

Wilson’s is something along the lines of “I don’t see the resemblance”

Which is most likely why they changed Wilson's mask. The old one was quite literally Wilson's face. There was No symbolism or anything.

New one is still Wilson, but at least now his quote makes much more sense.

I mean, yeah, it's been implemented for 2 days. Give it time.

The way it's implemented in the code doesn't seem to be modular or planned for other uses. If they dare to copy and paste vault room code(instead of setting up proper Class Inheritance) I'll make them fight Misery Toadstool with fishing rods only:fat:
