POOH_LY Posted July 21, 2025 Share Posted July 21, 2025 I think the problem is that a lot of players are already used to this kind of health pool (myself included, to the point where DS bosses feel so weak when I play it.) That and the fact the characters keep getting stronger and stronger, nerfing the HP might make bosses feel less satisfying. But that might be just me. cropo Posted July 23, 2025 Share Posted July 23, 2025 Can't really do it anymore with characters like Willow who can just blast 750 damage out in a controllable AOE. Try the adjusted health mod and fight some of the new bosses like Werepig, and spam Willows lunar blast exclusively. They go down like chumps with single-player health. Other abilities that improve DPS above what used to be possible like Maxwells shadow clones, lunar gear, Wormwoods changes to his bramble armor etc would completely wreck Singleplayer. An HP downscale would need to be accompanied by various nerfs on a lot of character damages. I personally would welcome a global nerf to both player and boss healths with a toggle since no amount of words will convince me it's fun to fight something alone with 22k health but just lowering the health on its own is no longer really a workable idea. We're also much better than we were 10 years ago, so characters like WX and Wolfgang who seemed incredibly difficult to maintain in order to get their bonuses are really...not hard to maintain at all and just get massive upsides. I don't even want to know how an average Wolfgang experience is in Singleplayer, you'd probably yawn and everything around you would just die. I tried playing with HP adjust because I wanted it to feel more like Singleplayer, used Willows lunar blast and was like "Oh yeah, why do I even need this mod again?" and turned it off. (At least for SW and Hamlet) It's the seasonal effects, like flooding, fog, meteors, the aporkalypse. Combat there is very easy since you can just stack both slot of armors, and nothing can harm you. Any boss in solo is a powerful threat. There's a bum in the team. And Klei's updates only simplify the bosses... Because of the amplification of everything. God give the DS and RoG bosses more attacks... Greetings from Rellana, who has 16 attacks, very fast HP, high damage and a long boss fight with awesome music in almost 5 minutes. Klei is certainly not From Software, but over the 10 years of release, it's mostly just the bosses in almost every update... No music, no variety of attacks ... the new bosses are certainly cooler than the old ones, but the huge HP makes them easier to dull. For example, I liked DS Deerclops because, although it had 2000 hp, it corresponded to his music in 30 seconds and a repetition of 1 attack. In DST, for fun, I have to listen to the soundtrack twice and dejectedly dodge her attacks twice... and if I use a spear... Killing her without the Hp Health Bar is like torture for me. But someone likes it. I personally look forward to her rework very much, as do the Tree Guardians. The other old bosses aren't that nasty...
