The new shock mechanic allows you to parry most enemy attacks at will by quick swapping to an electric weapon. I didn't post about it because I figured most people would have caught onto this, but since I haven't seen it mentioned yet, here it is. Better late than never.

Yeah, aside from some specific states blocking shocking entirely (usually transition states, they usually also block sleeping and sometimes freezing), there's many attacks and actions that can be interrupted with electric shocks. There's way more utility potential than people might have thought when the first update for this beta came out.

  • As noted in this thread, many attacks can be interrupted.
  • Enemies that hide and shield themselves, like Cave Spiders and Slurtles/Snurtles, will be forced out and exposed.
  • Unique boss actions like Toadstool spore spawning can be interrupted, even if for a bit. Crab King's healing can be interrupted even if there's enough gems to make it normally uninterruptible (where the animation can only be rewound if hit fast enough). These might not do that much but will definitely help buying some time in some cases.

Makes me kinda wish the enemies also had counter attacks so we can get pokemon like protect mind games.

Anyway let this be the reason that the morning star does not need any buffs. Its perfectly fine.

This is actually more fair and harder to pull off than it looks because there is a point in attack animations where it won’t cancel.
