Cleebo1
I'm on the metallic swampy start so there's no oil around, I have a few slicksters but I'm not sure how to start ranching them, I've been to the desolands planet but only to grab dreckos. What options are there for coolant on a metal refinery? I know naphta would probably work but I don't know how to melt that much plastic and polluted water might work but I don't think i can control the temperatures that well. psusi
I've been using naptha on my current Ceres world. Plastic from bonbon trees is easy, then just build an insulated tile chamber up in the vacuum of space, drop in 10kg of water, drop in a metal battery, seal it up, and a minute later you have a tile of super heated steam you can build a plastic tempshift plate in the corner of to melt 800kg of plastic into naptha. You can repeat that twice then have to redo the battery/steam pocket to do another 1600kg of naptha and you can set up a nice circulation dumping the refinery heat into the steam turbine and only returning the naptha to the metal refinery once it is cool enough. The basic early game way of course, is still to use pwater and radiate the heat into a cold biome. Use cold water and pwater salt water or even brine around the map until they reach 80-90 then feed them to oxygen generation. If you already have plastic for steam turbine and have access to uranium, you can try liquid uranium or nuclear waste.
