You can pop in and out of caves to despawn the rabbit king. Cave entrances are all over the place and it is a very easy way to deal with the rabbit king that doesn't involve any fighting.

Maybe, but this thing is more ruthless in its pursuit to continue to chase you then an undead raid boss who’s corpse is being possessed by an alien entity that doesn’t just want you dead… it wants you very very dead.

Yet: Undead Possessed bosses lose interest in you and eventually wander off, while Rabbit King knows where you live and will come find you.

But if your doing something away from caves entrances you gotta drop what you're doing and probably despawn the boss if your fighting it for a few mins just because you were holding the wrong food. that's why they should just make it so its passive unless you attack it instead of having Bunnymen behavior.

I mainly brought up the point about caves because people were saying you can't escape it. You can and it isn't even difficult to.

Also, you can't really happen across it by chance. It only appears when you kill things, feed a bunny hole a bunch of carrots, or catch a fortuitous rabbit. Those are all deliberate actions that spawn the rabbit king. How would you run into a situation where you are interrupted by the rabbit king?

I also don't think that the boss is that hard to fight, if I happen to spawn one, I usually just fight it.

I think the rabbit king's pursuit of the player makes it a more interesting enemy. Just about every enemy in the game can be avoided by simply running away. The fact that avoiding it is more tricky than moving a screen away from it makes it a more unique encounter in my opinion.

Good intel, did not know this.

If you're in the caves the fortuitous rabbit has a chance to spawn from earthquakes.

This should be behavior for a late game boss, for example.. maybe change Big Worm Boi so it only starts spawning after you open Shadow Rifts (and trigger the huge earth quakes) and give him this behavior, not something tied to a mob you can spawn on Day 1 by taking the carrots from a Pigman village and cramming them into a bunny hole.

Yeah but the fortuitous rabbit won't spawn the king unless you catch or attack it.

I think a (relatively weak) enemy that relentlessly pursues the player with very specific spawning conditions fits great in the early game. Also, Rictus exists which is another (late game) enemy that relentlessly pursues the player.

Why do you think an encounter like this should only belong in the late game? It might be tough at first for new players, but new players will also quickly learn to avoid spawning it, learn to fight it, or learn to escape it. And if they die a few times, that's what the game is about.

Imo, rabbit king for new players is overtuned. Too much HP, too many minions. Drops are mediocre at best. His best use is trades but that's pretty much all.

Should scale down health as well as minion damage perhaps, or just killing too many to get the king should be slightly higher bar to reach.

The only thing that bothers me a lot about rabbit king is that fortuitious rabbits can fall during earthquakes (as funny as it is). And well guess what, if you're in the middle of ruins or something else important like that, looks like you have to fight it or drop everything you're doing and leave. Otherwise it is something you can completely learn to avoid and learn that it's not worth fighting. The only countermeasure to this is to drop meat while there's an earthquake, scan the area for fortuitious rabbits, and then continue on with what you're doing. or alternatively, just prayge it's not gonna spawn.

it doesn't aggro the king tho if it's not touched, no? worst thing would be is to catch that rabbit for that to happen

I must be a ignoramus if it's harmless. Maybe I accidentally picked it up 3 times then.

Edit: They need to add it so I can complain about it.
