also related to topic but the floater seems a bit useless if you cant even craft a new boat while on it, and the wetness gain also feels rather slow, like i died from overheating while on it.

Yup that's why we're advocating for moving slowly or random movements out of player's control. Let's Klei hear our feedback.

Also whaaaaattt you died from overheating before gaining wetness? Ahahahahahaha

I'm willing to sacrifice wurts dissarming immunity and the wetness regen & armor skills for swimming.

whos with me?

Im willing to sarcastic Wurt’s merm helmets, alignments, and the merm king crown quest.

who is with me?

I’m not sure I can agree with that the idea of letting players enter “swimming”  states on the ocean, rather than being treated as instantly drowned. It would require adding constantly-checked player states for swimming, so that could carry development costs far beyond what people imagine.

Another option would be to tweak knockback so "friendly ocean mob could knockback a drowning player back toward the ship".

Personally, I’d rather they fix issue of ocean yoinks players and drown unfairly when jumping platforms or at completely random moments.

Adding durability is pointless. The floater is a bandaid fix for the problem where falling into the sea ends a boss fight. If you didn’t fall into the sea due to a melted iceberg or a mid-jump lag spike, then you fell into the sea because your boat sunk, which is, in itself, already extremely punishing.

I like the idea of drifting, rather than swimming. The game already knows where nearby land is, as that’s where you get sent when you drown. Maybe the floater should slowly drift you in that direction.

feel like it should maybe drift to the nearest boat too?

Klei, I have a floaters request. Can we make them appear larger and offset lower when placed on the ground? First thing I thought with the new floater skin was it would make great decor as something to place items on, like with the Bunnymen body pillows.

that sucks, i was planning on using them as "chairs" next season after i got my base set up but if they are this high up they might not layer well at all

I really don't understand what you're trying to say here. Help me. Because we obtained the "drowning" state in the ocean now with personal floaters.

That's also true. Problem. It's far more complicate to fix it compared to what you said previously. I would very very much like too that Klei works and fix it once and for all, but if they don't, I'm already preparing myself with the item route.

It could be pointless for you but it's a must. You could introduce a lunar hi-tech version of personal floaters in the ancient science celestial machine thingy to make it infinite with post rift stuff. The point is this is a survival game and this item is a rudimentary one, it has all the needs and points to have durability. Literally one patch before they exploded when consumed. This is a clear oversight from Klei.

Your idea ( @GamePlayer42's too!) of drifting is cool and more elegant, in my opinion, than the rng one where you move at random without control. Added and edited to the feedback!

My head is full of fluffy straw, so I forgot the Personal Floater got updated, I'm sorry.
