New blind box figures and DST skins

Klei Entertainment and Firelink's new collaborative figures and Don't Starve Together skins are coming in blind box form, with six designs in total. What do you all think?

What is blind box? Is it like the type of figurines you don't get to pick what you want? If yes, then that's absurd honestly   They look great but I don't support this type of business.

the figures look really great in my opinion!! I love how they each have a little set design, it's very fun!

the skins are fine, too. I think the chest skin is my favorite, the others are just okay, personally.

I'm not familiar with modern day blind box culture, I remember seeing someone mention (in the spoiler/leaked content thread) that you can buy just a box or you could also buy a "full set". Does that mean what the name implies? Does a full set guarantee every unique figure? Or is it just "there are 6 possible figures, and here are 6 random chances, good luck"

It being blindbox would most likely mean if you bought 6 of em.

You'd get each of the figures and there is big chance you'd get few of them the same character

These figures are available for sale on Bilibili. You can choose to buy a random one or a set of all six designs.

Not really a fan of the figurines, especially Wigfrid and Maxwells. The chest and the tam'o skin are eye candy tho

I've bought all the six. I love the torch skin. It looks like the Tesla Lantern.

those figurines look... off? Somehow they just don't look right, like some sort of in-between of their representations in game and the animations.

The skins for the items look... well the torch seems alright. Unfortunately I can't see myself getting them due to the odd look, which in fairness can be difficult to get right since the source material is meant to look strange but in a very particular way.

I agree they do look a bit "weird". I think this not-exactly-in-game not-exactly-out-of-game style is why they appeal to me. I am still hoping I will NOT spend my money on them, once I get the chance though (I love Klei's DS stuff but I also don't like blind boxes and I don't like making impulse buys when it comes to fandom items ^^') (though if I do I would actually be laughing and enjoying if I ended up with an army of Wilsons or WX)

what are the prices, since they might be a little lower quality so there cheaper.

It's a third party designer - they've given rights to utilise the IP clearly. That's why they look 'off', there wouldn't have been anyone from Klei involved in this outside of the contract.

I harbor a personal grudge against it. This particular figure set has six varieties, but in Japan there was another series with twenty-one different “fighter aircraft figures.” Statistically, you’d need to buy about 441 boxes to complete the collection. My dad was scammed by that scheme. That alone is bad enough. But look at the photo below—it says “チョコエッグ,” which literal translation is “chocolate egg.” To boost the product’s value, the figure is hidden inside the chocolate. 

And here’s the kicker: my dad only wanted the figures from those ~441 chocolate eggs. So guess, WHERE THE HECK DO YOU THINK THE **** CHOCOLATES WENT?!

 

oh, i understand that! when i was a child i wasted so much money on those sets(insects and food mostly). as an adult it does make me feel quite unwell how pervasive it is and how much waste goes into it.

It only accepts the chinese phone number.
