It would be nice to have a late game solution for wildfires, especially for base builders who run out of space simply just building in the Oasis. Since the Ice Crystallizer's do not work well incorporating them into builds, I was thinking of another solution to deal with late game wildfires. (Emphasis on late game where most early game struggles should have a solution since you've worked your way up to that point). I did make a thread about buffing the Ice Crystallizer however if that is not something that happens I thought this could be a second alternative.

The lunar variant bosses were added quite some time ago now, and they said it would eventually be expanded upon adding some more, so Lunar Antlion seems like something that could be added to the roster where upon killing him (the second time, after she becomes possessed on first kill) it cools down the world for the rest of summer! This would also not add any extra routine kills as I kill Antlion every summer because of those dang holes everywhere anyways. Or perhaps she drops a new item structure that can be used to cool down the world on a timer for a set amount of sand stones that you've farmed up over the years.

I like this idea! I’m not a fan of the self-ignition mechanic either. Maybe the Lunar Antlion shouldn’t cool down the entire world, since that would practically nullify the effects of summer, but I’m totally in favor of it disabling self-ignition. It’s a great reward, appealing and encouraging players to fight it, but not forcing them to do.

I LOVE how the Above-Average-Trees prevent wildfires under their canopy. I just wish there was a way to plant them on land, even if that means sacrificing some area (and figs). A massive pot of water could work and it could be an "Average-Average-Tree" for goofs and gaffs.

Sadly that doesn't work well with Oasis sandstorm mechanics. If you step on the docks under the canopy of a giant tree planted on the edge of the Oasis desert during the sandstorm, the ground underneath the canopy is safe but everything outside of it becomes vulnerable to wildfires even though it's inside the Oasis. Oasis protection only works when players are standing inside of the sandstorm. It's more of a flaw of the sandstorm mechanics rather than the giant trees but that's why I end up playing with wildfires off even when I base in the Oasis and have my entire base shore surrounded by giant trees - after all this effort to grow all these trees, and enduring the sandstorm each summer, this is still not enough for my builds to stay protected from the stupid smoldering mechanic. Even if technically every inch of my base is supposed to be safe from them.

That seems like a crazy bug. I assume you've reported it. It has to be a bug because both are intended to prevent wildfires. Sorry you have to go through that. I know AATs take a non-zero amount of effort to produce, at least initially while Figs are uncommon.

It has been reported/discussed here on the forums several times. It's not a bug per se, it's just a result of the sandstorm mechanics implementation. It is designed to be only protecting the stuff on screen that is covered by the sandstorm while player stands inside of the sandstorm. If you ever step on the edge of the Oasis desert you can see that 1) The ground outside of the Oasis will smolder on screen if it's not in the sandstorm; 2) Anything inside of sandstorm will start smoldering if you leave the sandstorm. To fix it they would need to completely rework how Oasis protection works, and bind it to the land tiles instead of the sandstorm. Just how lunar island tiles have the enlightenment property, Oasis desert tiles (not turf though) should get the wildfire protection property for anything growing/built on these tiles.
