marshyds Posted May 12, 2025 Share Posted May 12, 2025 (edited) Currently ocean fish are ALMOST completely only differentiated by hunger value and visuals, except for sun fish and ice bream, who change your temperature. Right now, if you are truly a solo Wurt who doesn't want to go the wonkey route, your way of making gold renewable would be through trading ocean fish to merm king. However this is rather boring and tedious. Wurt could have a skill that lets her have different abilities for fish she carries (Or maybe a designated item she could insert a fish into, similar to the garland Wendy can craft)? I am well aware that Wurt is completely broken due to her skilltree, however this is more of just making a different, more niche, mechanic interesting. There could also just generally be abilities for all survivors, Wurt would still benefit from slower fish spoilage. Instead fishing should be more casual and rewarding, because the only ocean life I'd ever personally try to catch through fishing are wobsters. Fishing is just a mechanic that a lot of people would agree is cool and all but isn't really worth doing. We can see Wurt taking big inspirations from fairy tales and other survivors, she tries to mimic them in some sort. Of course she would like to try out abilities of her fish fellas! We should make the seasons even more interesting, let's do this in other ways. If you grow every single one of every single crop for every single season, you should get exclusive rewards! And if you kill the Ancient Fuelweaver, he drops a seasonal item! The seasons will be so interesting if you need to kill AFW four times in a row for no reason just because "seasons interesting"! Ponds should have a 0.5% chance to give you a really good item that changes with the season, so you need to spend the entire season fishing in the ponds! And then the next time the season rolls around you can spend the entire season sailing around trying to find the seasonal fish! This is all so interesting and fun! The same things that always exist at all times with no changes to them at all and just random time pressure for literally no reason at all is how you make the game fun! You know what else would be fun? A battlepass! It's like the same thing! Time pressure makes things interesting without actually changing how things work, just adding time pressure to rewards for no reason! Klei should stop releasing new skins in the store, and start releasing battlepasses! They could set it up so that you need to accomplish certain things while having no mods enabled (Don't want you to cheat the battlepass rewards!) in order to do dailies, and if you do dailies every day you can get the skins you paid for! If you miss too many days, or just joined the game too late, you don't get the skins ever! It's interesting because it forces you to do things right now!
