The character shorts, the intermissions, the 10 hour campfire """"short"""" or any of the other ones which one is your favorite?

Me personally, I'm a Taste of Home purist it feels a lot more personal than most of the other shorts and is an emotional thermonuclear bomb.

While I think most are great, I find Don't Starve Tales: Inevitable to be the one that I keep coming back to the most.

I love how the characters are drawn, how bleak the world looks with its dull and muted colors, and the fact that it's the only short where we hear the characters speak!

I know most are off put by it, heck, I was when I watched for the first time, but I came to love the voices Klei gave Wilson, Willow, and Maxwell. That short makes me yearn for an animated series in that exact style.

Easily Taste of Home as well! But besides that; Maxwell's Encore or the musical short Inevitable. Or even Wigfrid's The Curtain Calls!
There's so many to choose from and they all have great qualities. I've enjoyed everything released and find them all hard to compare, personally!

Always on the edge of my seat for whatever Klei posts another short :D

Whatever the most recent one that comes out is usually my favorite :-D The most recent "Story Trailer" short is definitely very exciting, and the music for it is very good. When it pans down to see the gestalt wandering around the junkyard at day, when we already know Wagstaff is plotting something... Ooh it just gives me chills.

But actually my favorites would have to be Maxwell's Encore, WX-78's short, Wilson's rework short, or the Gorge short.

I love comparing Inevitable & the Reap what you Sow trailer or really most any trailer that puts survivors next to eachother set in the current day. Inevitable feels set really early into the days of DST, with survivors barely getting along and consistently clashing with one another/struggling to really get by in a meaningful capacity, bonus points for how it specifically has old farms featured. place this next to the reap what you sow trailer or any halloween one, or the one with wanda & wilson travelling time and you'll really see a striking difference in how the interactions between the survivors are portrayed. It really feels like their bonds have grown in some way or another, and that they have just a little bit more of an idea of how to live in their otherwise hostile little world. Really plays into the themes of DST as a whole

I feel like I am very biased since they are all for my favorite characters but:

A Taste of Home because it took a character who had a pretty boring personality and gave them an incredible backstory. Just amazing writing.

Encore because it really set the stage of what is to come. It was so cool to see Maxwell and Charlie actually have a physical interaction with each other in the Constant. Before that Maxwell seemed to just avoid thinking about her.

Intermission: Projector because it answered some questions about Wagstaff. It also is the single thing that peaked my interest in the character, who has quickly become a favorite of mine.

I find most animated shorts to be perfectly even between each-other. I, however dislike the animation change that happened roughly after End of return of them, or Maxwell's encore.

I believe it's because they switched from hand-drawn animation to rig animation, probably in order to get these shorts out in a timely manner. While the recent shorts have been quite great, some of the earlier ones look a little off. The one that comes at the top of my head is the Wes one.

Encore is my absolute favorite short in all terms except animation. It doesn't look terrible but it's very clear they hadn't gotten a proper handle on the puppet rigs and their proportions yet. Looking past all that it kicked off my love for the series even further than I had already been obsessed with it.

So... Along Came a Spider holds a special place in my heart because it's what made me interested in the series in the first place. To this day, Webber is my favorite character (just barely beating out Wurt), and it was this short that introduced me to him.

But that being said, I think Inevitable is my favorite. It shows that the animations can work just as well - if not better - when things are fully voiced and not pantomime. Wilson and Willow's voices were spot on in terms of how I expected them to sound and I hope one day we hear them again.

Early exposure bias and all, but I'm really quite fond of Staying Afloat
Mainly due to the main menu theme from that update as well as the opening scene (Wurt's freak out, Winona stepping in to help, and Wurt acting unimpressed in the gameplay footage). Moreover, the way they conveyed everything that was new for the update felt very well executed.

Don't forget!

I don't know which one is my personal favourite, not sure if this counts but the gameplay trailer for the Nintendo Switch I really enjoyed, with the screaming Fuelweaver at the end.

When I think about it  without put much effort the first one that always come first in my mind is Wx - the way he snaps back to reality after the memories with that scream...  that is so deep to me. Klei nailed there.

I never saw this one. It's kind of ironically how I DISLIKE Wilson's voice here (who is my favourite voice in the game), I think Willow sounds nice (I like flutes, so her voice in game is automatically positive for my ears), and VERY ironically I ADORE Webbers voice here, while I sadly can't even PLAY him in game because his in-game voice is almost unbearable for my ears.
