Endgame walking cane?

This explains why klei is adding such low quality and uninspired progression lately...

If anything, they should keep adding early and late game alternatives to walking cane and telepuffing

Instead of a lunar or shadow walking cane, what about a wagstaff inspired one? What it would do is emit extremely tiny sparks that emit a faint amount of light during night. Not enough for the player to actually see, but enough to ward off Charlie. The player would still be losing sanity at the full darkness rate, it's sole purpose would be so Charlie can't get you so you don't have to hotswap to a lantern. 

It would be an objective upgrade and still have a bit of a cost with its use.

Maybe make it glow slightly less than a charged thermal stone instead of emit sparks to protect our eyes.

Not a bad idea but one of the thousands of perks from the BS helmet is that charlie immunity. If I have to chose: telepuffing>>>>>>>charlie immunity (even without the huge sanity drain)

Why is that wrong? We're a group of people who would like to have an item that boosts speed in the endgame, and we're saying it openly. It's great that there's a discussion about how it could work, but what's wrong with being from the same Discord server? Likes don't have any power to force Klei to add an endgame walking cane.
If Klei says it's a bad idea, or if any of you do — that's fine. It's just a suggestion.

I think that a slightly better walking cane — with a 35% or 40% speed boost (so Beefalo would still be faster) — could be a nice endgame item. The boost could depend on the moon cycle, or maybe the cane could emit a small amount of light.

No problem. I think a better walking cane that changes depending on the moon cycle could be a good way to encourage players to turn off the Moonstorm themselves. Also, a bit of extra speed wouldn’t really affect the meta — we already have around three characters who can travel across the world instantly, so giving others a small boost would just make them more fun to play.

My playthrough with Wortox was a really nice experience — no exhausting walking around the world. Other characters could really benefit from some extra speed. And if the cane provided light as well, it could free up the lantern slot, giving both speed and illumination in one item. A simple, quality-of-life upgrade that improves the gameplay experience without breaking the game’s balance.

The post is of such length because the idea itself did not come from me, but from another person. I was only asked to write a post with this proposal.
I didn't want to write and give various ideas of what such a walking cane could do, so I simply gave in the post such a simplified concept, which is a blank page.
