AuRuS
What is your go-to item layout you carry around for everyday tasks? Do you ever use the shadow maul? Is there something you think could be ditched for more inventory space or is everything basicially essential there? I always felt like backpack with bundling wraps + ropes and food + healing is an unbeatable combo for any stage of the game after killing beequeen. It's heping to maximize efficiency of not needing to go back to base so often and still leaves you with plenty of inventory space Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165354-question-for-late-game-enjoyers/ Share on other sites
Radicaljoe
You can also put jellybeans in the bearger bin to save more space in your inventory. I usually have a star caller, bearger bin, both lunar tools, an umbralla, and bundle wraps. It's probably not efficient but I always keep at least half a stack of twigs and grass on me all the time. Of course have to have a lazy explorer. I don't use the maul unless I'm Wormwood or Wigfrid because as most everyone else I find it too tedious and annoying to be used reliably. As everyone else I prefer scythe+cowl. I also use the cc crown, but its usage depends on the character I choose. Maxwell gets to use it for decorating in base where there's no danger because its useless everywhere else for him, Wigfrid uses it all the time because free damage buff. ChintzyGnat
Same for me except no star caller or moon bundles or grass, i also carry moggles just incase. I also use brightshade husk only, so I might try maul instead of sword. _mylilsunshine_
if it's end-game i might even ditch any backpack-type and just use clothing when it's useful, like hibearnation vest or a floral shirt/summer frest, and carry my items in shadow chester granted, i'm walter so i have an extra 09 slots but i think it should still applies to everyone Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165354-question-for-late-game-enjoyers/#findComment-1812383 Share on other sites

With the maul you don't need healing and you only need either moon caller or star caller staff depending on the season, not both. You don't need tools unless you are planning to using them. I could see a reason to carry the pickaxe at all times but not the shovel Other than that, you inventory is pretty clear unlike most players carrying flint, armor of all kind and other non senses Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165354-question-for-late-game-enjoyers/#findComment-1812384 Share on other sites

Hollow soul 3
Top bar is souls, panflute, 10 soul jars (dumped at been base when empty), a lantern, and two empty spaces. In the Krampus sack, I keep the void armor set, 10 void repair kits, the scythe, a walking cane, the void umbrella, a second lantern,' and the knabsacker. The real inventory for wortox is base, since teleporting back and forth is pretty much free after you get the jars filled. Baark0
shadow maul is good if you get rid of the hunger mechanic with a mod, otherwise its not worth the time since if it ever breaks you lose all boss kills on it. imo if they removed the hunger drain at max level but kept it until you got to that point itd be fine, or if they made the maul not lose all of its levels when it breaks. its a shame too, cause having a high power axe is really nice for cutting trees down, and the healing is genuinely really good. void robe can be ditched, maul + void cowl is plenty for pretty much every encounter that isnt cc or that you arent tanking. jelly beans should be put in your bearger bin to save space, star caller is fine but generally not needed if you have enlightened crown + banana shakes. bundling wraps and rope i dont bring around with me after getting bearger bin, as theyre kinda not super needed unless you plan on grabbing a bunch resources and want to bundle them to save space, but in that case you can just leave them at home and grab them before you leave to gather resources. might also be worth carrying brightshade repair kits around. the smasher alone justifies it, but since you have the shoevel as well you might as well. last thing is winona specific, but i like carrying around a remote, catapult, and gemerator with pure brilliance. since theyre so easy to setup, it makes it pretty convenient to place em down and destroy plants/objects/creatures. you can also carry a spotlight around instead of a star caller if you want a smaller light radius in exchange for not having to worry about your staves breaking. Imo its pretty good anyway and in practice there is absolutely no way of accidently losing all the progress on it because you just can't miss when its starting to lose health due to hunger, you can always just go kill some frogs or whatever you got around and it's full for a couple days. Even if you are playing purely passively and building a base, there is so much to kill all around you all the time that I maybe have to deal with it starving like 3 times per year, meaning I need to get out of my way to feed it. If i had to suggest a change to it I would decrease the durability drain on trees chopping because right now its 1:1 the same as attacking and tbh it makes absolutely no sense, it should be 1:3 or 1:4 even, just like pick/axe drains less durability on chopping (so I guess the code is there to be used but only god knows how entangled it might be in klei's spaghetti so it might not be a 5 min job - actually I might go and take a look myself in a minute). Maybe they could also increase it's max hunger a bit? From 500 to like 600/700, but it's wishful thinking, the maul is really good imo as a turbo lategame weapon. Maxil20
I like threads like this, so I might as well show my Current Inventory Management on my 21K+ day world, with an explanation of why I use what below: First slot is always my main weapon (It's a reskinned Brightshade sword, based off of my sona's sword. If I'm gonna rock a weapon for a couple thousand days, might as well throw a bit of a funny touch to it). Second-Third slots are my main body and helm armors (the thule suits are reskinned bone armors in this case to fit my fancy, as I < 3 bone armor and I'm never going to see the thule suit skins otherwise). On the other side, I keep the umbralla for general weather related purposes (especially lunar hail) alongside being handy wetness protection when base building, then repair kits to maintain all the gear I use, and my polar bearger bin. Backpack has the telebrella (For that LATEGAME TRANSPORT WOOOO), nightmare fuel to recharge the bone armors/misc crafting, brightshade smasher for general structure arranging purposes (it also works as a surprisingly good weapon in a pinch), howlitzer for mob aggro (A gloomerang is probably better in most cases, but a howlitzer does have slightly more range), and a second bone armor if I need it for boss fights and/or ruins clearing. The bearger bin has my main stat food (in this case, reskinned honey ham to look like honey tenders), my secondary stat food (Sanity in this case, as that's a stat that I sometimes need to binge fill that the other dishes do not easily do), fish corden bleu for spring rains, hot dragon chili salad for winter/ice crystaleyezers, chili spiced volt goat chaud froid for damage funnies, and honey spiced glow berry mousse as my reserve lighting in the event I don't have the crown up/my ruins clearing food (the honey spice in particular is relevant for the latter) This setup gives me fairly optimal experiences when going around for day to day needs, delivering a good balance between preparation/inventory use. I do like playing more on the safe side, which is why I have a second bone armor/howlitzer on me when you could probably ditch those for extra slots, though I personally haven't had any reason to as areas where I expect to pickup a ton of items have empty krampus sacks by those locations, allowing me to stuff my krampus sack with various items in my main inventory and get an almost empty inventory. Bonus of my Ender Chest Shadow Storage. Since I play solo on this world, nothing ever changes the storage, so I use it to keep "common" resources I might need so I don't need to do something like run all the way back to my base to make a lightning rod, especially if I am not playing a character who can easily teleport to the base. It also keeps other tools I don't use frequently, like the weather pain and eyebrella. Come to think of it, throwing my shoevel in here is probably not a bad idea... Back when I used a lantern, slurtle slime was my main fuel source to keep it sustained. Nowdays, I just keep it in there to blast open some docks sometimes (as 6 slime can blow up a tile). I’ve miscalculated and needed to do it enough times that I keep it in there just in case, as I’m not really hurting for space in there. 38 minutes ago, AuRuS said: also, arent void wepons just straight up better than brightshade sword when it comes to dps? I personally like the consistency of the brightshade sword compared to the damage potential of the reaper and maul. While the damage of the reaper is high in most combat situations, the sword hitting a consistent 75 with the helm gives a lot of leeway for things like hounds, as they’ll always die in the same number of hits regardless of conditions. While the reaper can hit and surpass this, you run the risk of the damage getting reset when getting hit and needing to hit a few times to have the damage ramp up past 75. It’s more of a personal preference thing, as I have friends who love the shadow reaper/maul, while some of them also prefer using the brightshade sword. I personally can see why someone would lean one way or the other.
