Slurtle Mound don't respawn at all even after a reset ruins. Monkey does. Why ?

Recommended Posts

I destroyed them all for their loot before fuelweaver kill and Slurtle Mound don't respawn at all. Cave monkey house are respawning so why ? Now its literally imposible to get their armor... what's the point to make such a low drop rate if you have like 10 chance PER world ... Worst is that i just discovered that on my long term world.

I don't see the point of making them non renewable. Cave are alrady empty enough. I destroyed the hut for their broken shell while i was there. Even catcoon spawner are renewable now. It wasn't the case in Solo DS so i hope its a leftover feature for those Slurtle Mound. Really frustrating to brick a 2 years world, even if those loot are mostly useless, still a cool thing to farm.

They aren't part of the ruins so I don't think they should regenerate with the banishment of AFW, but I do think they should come back. Maybe just as part of world regrowth or something, just randomly spawning in occasionally when there's fewer existing than there were at world creation.

Although you aren't limited to 10 chances, you have infinite chances. They'll come out of their houses without the houses being damaged after an earthquake, so either naturally waiting or causing earthquakes to happen will give you infinite chances. Every time you punch their house with any attack they'll come out, so that's 35 chances per mound if you're using your bare hand. If you set the mound on fire then quickly extinguish it that'll make them come out without the mound being damaged, so that's infinite chances.

the real question is why would you damage the mound to begin with. just to make them come out? earthquakes happen a lot after shadow rift is open, and they'll be out almost every 5 days, probably even lesser than that

and didn't you can like 'heal' the mound using salve/poultice?

I broke the hut because they also give broken shell that i needed to make plant box and i need a lot for a build. I usually look at wiki everytime i destroy something because of that and i forgot for this one, now i can't rollback enough in the past so its literally bricked. I still can farm broken shell in the sea but can't get those slurtle armor. Its just really frustrating to always have to read the wiki to be sure i'am not deleting a mechanic or something permanently from the world.

If you're on PC you can walk around and use the console command

c_spawn("slurtlehole")

a couple of times to get them back. It should place the slurtle mounds where your mouse cursor is.

You can heal their dens, I'm pretty sure, if you're insistent on hitting them.

Like you can heal all things with 'health' even if they're enemies, it's good to do a bit of upkeep. I'm split 50/50 on things respawning... I kind of like having to actually care for a resource and avoid risking its extinction. I LOVED how almost everything in Hamlet could do extinct and wish a bit more of that was present in DST.

Yeah but DST is multiplayer so even if you properly manage everything if you're on a public server someone else could come along and mess it up. I think there being punishment for mismanaging resources is fine, but the punishment being you are permanently and irrevocably locked out of several items for the rest of eternity with nothing you can ever do to get them back is a bit harsh.

Maybe the solution could be that crafting a new one takes, like, 40 shell fragments and some phlegm? It'd finally give a (very niche) use to the latter, and you can get the former from Pearl, so it's tedious but doable (and you'll realistically have more than that after her quest anyway).

My cave are 100 % explored so i hunted them with the help of my map. There was 5 spawn. Maybe 6. Got one chest armor from all of that xD.

edit : I wish that i've missed one xD I would have protected this with all my power lool

The reason is that the mound and ruins magic are not related, and the gate will not bring them back.
To be honest, I don't think these natural resources should go extinct, and Klei is also working hard towards it. Bananatree, Volt Goat, Hollow Stump, and Tallbird Nest have only recently added regeneration methods, and so should Slurtle Mound.

I never carred about those stupid slurtle before, now they are gone and i don't want to play my world anymore. Classic

No Slurtle head armor =( . I've restarted long term world for less than that =( Tragic.

this is why I don't just carelessly destroy things

hell, even the archives walls in my main world (nearing 3.9k days) are mostly intact (save for a few that got rammed by the cringe ass sentrypede)
