How will the KLEI finish the arch from beyond?

Recommended Posts

In the post below the update, the developers wrote that they want to complete Arch 2 with the next updates. What do you think can be added to them and what can be changed in the rifts now?

I'll suggest a few useful changes before closing the arch:

The more common prey is dreadstone and pure brilliance.

Wagstaff's portal that appears several trailers in a row

The Queen of the Ancients, who replaces Charlie's shadow in one of the cinematic.

Rift shadow bosses and more moon creatures.

The strengthening of the lunar hail that they wanted to release along with the acid rain.

And the final bosses of 2 rifts (Maybe something more interesting)

Yes, this is a lot, but it seems to me that almost all points are important and without them the arc of faults cannot be completed properly. What do you think? :wilson_sneaky:

Charlie and Wagstaff get overthrown by their respective godlike being, causing them both to be stuck in the Constant with the rest of the survivors. They suddenly all find themselves powerless in the middle of a war far beyond their comprehension, likely to be used as footsoldiers. All is looking bleak, until Wagstaff's smooth talking grants them the opportunity for one single chance at escaping. The higher powers agree to Wagstaff's challenge, a dance battle. There is only one survivor who is skilled in the art of dancing. Does Wes, the unsung hero, have what it takes to dance him and his friend's way out of a sticky situation? Find out at the end of this year, in the new arc... Don't Starve Together: Dancing with the Starves

I hope finishing the arc doesnt mean forgetting about the rifts because the updates would need to be huge to make the rifts feel organic with the game.

We still only have BS, 3 bosses and frog rains as enemies spawning from the moon rifts. The weather effect is still lame

The caves suffers something similar. We have more mobs and the acid rain is a little more developed than the moon hail but still feels like something throw on top of the old content without much connection. Rictus share the spawning with the ink trio, and the spawning mechanic leaves a lot to be desired in a survival game, the mismas has no impact because only affects 2 tiny areas...

not to mention what you describe is the culmination of years of updates, because character updates have and still use up a massive chunk of the developer's time even to this day.

this is also my biggest concern. They set up this whole planar and alignment system with the post rifts in mind, and it would be strange if by the end the entire system only affected 15-20 mobs at most. There's also the fact that a lot of the skill trees not only really start to shine post rift but there are also skills that are largely non functional without the existence of planar mobs, so it would really be strange if skill trees revolved so much around post rift when there isn't anything more planned (though wortox's alignments only affecting brightshade helm and shadow reaper really worry me since that implies they don't plan on making much more equipment for the alignments)

And then like Maxwell, Charlie becomes a playable character?

that's never gonna happen since there's a billion speech strings that reference charlie, she has no class theme thats not just maxwell 2, and what little remnants of story and lore there is would just dry out and die instantly without her.

also

Spoiler

her graphics would probably be bad in minimized form

I mean, there only two update, they might not be able to do that much, what the rift gameplay needs is completely impossible to do in two updates. So my expectations are low:

  • Complete all the remaining skilltrees, end character update wave.
  • Add Wagstaffs portal from animated short to the game to replace the current temporary lunar rift activate option.
  • Add something to show "ally with Wagstaff or Charlie" in game, not just flavor text in the menu
  • Revisit some of the earlier and worse skilltree like Wilson Wolfgang Wormwood Wendy Wigfird to make them similar to other skilltrees.

Leave the task of add more Rift content to the next arc, don't abandon it like the ocean.
