I mean, that's how 90% of time-limited merch/reward works in real life and other games, whatever you think it's fair or not. If you are late to the party then you have to pay collectors/re-sellers to get desired item. At least be grateful you even have ability to buy some of the limited promo items. Newer ones are only accessible via limited purchase/code re-sellers or just not accessible in general anymore like crab backpack.
