Killing Fuelweaver or Celestial Champion gives all players in the world the chance to change their skilltree

Recommended Posts

The chance to change it lasts for a day. This would be a good qol because alot of skills on skilltrees are uterly useless pre-riffs, but essential post riff. It would help fix this big design issue a little.

(Players who were in the world before that join the world however many days late after the boss dies still get a day to change their skilltree for free)

It’s not that hard to build the celestial portal and offer it a tribute to switch characters/change skill tree perks. If you can kill CC and AFW you can certainly give switch totems to the Celestial Portal.

I would agree that moon idols are butt cheap late game, but that would just mean that such a quality of life addition would be harmless (but still convenient).

Its still so annoying, and feels weird. Its also annoying if you are doing a run as one character and want to avoid the portal.

Its a qol change for a reason.

So? What is the problem with giving more fitting ways?

But it actually wouldn’t be a QoL change, it would be an over simplification of something that required a bit of effort on the players part now requiring less so.

Or in other words: It would make people actually need to seek out the knowledge & ingredients to craft moon idol totems less important.

But like I said: it’s not hard to combine a blue and a red gem to craft a purple and give the Postern the switch idol.

In fact: I’d even go so far as to argue that the idols should require higher resource costs of newer materials that have been added.

Why? If you beat fuelweaver or cc, you already know everything in the game.

I dont think is oversimplificating anything. Proof you saying is easy to upgrade the portal while not being able to beat neither fw or cc... if anything this suggestion is adding a no noob friendly method of reseting the tree.

The best part is that it would allow reseting the tree in the caves since the portal in the caves cant be upgraded

I would argue that killing either CC or fuelweaver requires significantly more effort than bringing moon rocks to the spawn portal

Why not just unlock skills for players that actually took a part in the battle?

I could be at home planting dragonfruits when others decided to kill FuelWeaver to clean the ruins one more time

Great one. I've seen many beginner players beat AF/CC first time and have to go back to Celestial Portal to enjoy their new rewards because they've already used all 15 insight points.

You choose to change it, you are not forced. A notification appears on the top left.

New product of ancient seed. Skilltree, bears skillfruit that allow to respec skilltrees.

Because most character skill trees do not have enough content to even want to waste time changing your skill points around.

This isn’t Dead Island- there isn’t some deeply robust character defining changes you can Re-Spec skill trees for. Klei could literally make your skill point choices permanent and unchangeable choices you lock in and it would still not be enough to form a significant impact.

and if you DO know of any characters who would benefit immensely from being able to spec, and respec your skills please do point them out to me…. Because from what I’m seeing, there aren’t enough skill tree choices to ever warrant changing my selected skills up.

Any character with skills that are planar related or require post-fw/cc/rift resources

Come to think of it, are there any who wouldn't benefit from this change?

There's definitely some. Willow springs to mind.

Damn, this doesn't make any sense, how would killing the final boss be a simplification of something you yourself say, and I agree, is already absurdly simple? It would only be undoing a crude process of having to undo your character to redo it atomically just to change 2 points after you opened rifts, and of course, there are people who don't start the game with everything unlocked, so they would have spent those points on other things that aren't alignment-related and that require killing the boss... that they hadn't killed yet... And this wouldn't make anyone stop seeking knowledge because the idol's meant to change characters.

Wortox being permanently locked out of ever restoring sanity from souls again isn't meaningful? Winona's (or anyone else's) alignment skills? Wilson locked into torch tree after you discover lanterns exist?

P.S.: I think you've finally mentioned a game obscure enough that nobody here has heard of it.

I heard of it.

This is great.

I prefer an item whose blue print is dropped by CC or AFW or both that allows you to change skill tree

But frankly, you can change skilltree by re-selecting character in the celestial portal already, so a late-game item doing the same looks lame for me
