Cursed Vex need nerf for pre-rift, and buff for post-roft

Remind me again. Is this a form that you unlock via celestial champion/fuelweaver kill, or a pure horror potion? (Which is still available prerift, but regardless).

 

EDIT: I think this is largely duplicative with another thread here, which I agreed with.

The Cursed Vex is the elixir from Shadow Sisterhood II.

I know pure horror is achievable for pre-rift, but it is extremely rare. And if an affinity skill only served for the shorter game period of when you got the pure horror, it would be unreasonable.

You need to kill CC/AF to unlock this perk, and the elixir still takes pure horror to craft. So it's mostly a post rift stuff. Tbh if you manage to kill NW to farm pure horror (the only pre rift source of pure horror) you shouldn't have a problem killing AF and activating the shadow rift anyway

It's once per account, so if you ever tested this perk there is no longer such a restriction ever for you.

I can see myself duping pure horror using green gems and dreadstone armor tbf. Elixirs shouldn't be too costy with the bonus crafting perk.

I may take your point, but I don't think the duping by green gem would makes the design of Cursed Vex become a pre-rift item. It seems more like a special scenario for me.

I mean, we can't say that there is a item which is designed as a green gem duping only don't we? Cursed Vex is obviously as a post rift item by design, the green gem is only a special source for it, but not main.

Same issue, only NW drops pure horror pre rift. If you can kill NW, it's usually more productive to just activate the shadow rift, it becomes way easier to farm pure horror then

Simple solution is to make all additional vex buff damage planar. For example, if vex boosts Wendy's damage by 60%, then that 60% will be planar instead of normal damage.

 

This will have zero affect on pre-rift.

I think FW is a significantly bigger roadblock than NMpig

I think klei avoided this because vex buff scale with base physical damage, and it might make wendy with dark sword/beefalo along with stuff that buff base physical damage like spice goat jelly chilli powder... have more planar vex than brightshade swords that have like 30 base physical damage.

Making vex buff scale with bonus planar damage then make wendy better than wolfgang, as wolf only add flat planar damage with his skill tree, and if there are more planar damage in future, wendy then become the new wolfgang.

I think vex should not work for planar damage but the Cursed Vex should, since general Vex is obtained from the beginning, but Cursed Vex is mainly for post-rift...

I mean, you have to swap to a completely different character, farm volt goat horns, cook and bundle all of that, and then wait until it rains to pull this off. Not sure why this is an issue.

Why does it matter if Wendy can achieve a higher DPS than Wolfgang if you jump through a bunch of hoops to give her spicy volt goat jelly and wait till it rains? Did Klei say that Wendy isn't allowed to deal more damage than Wolfgang?

Just make the potion change a flat amount of the vex damage to planar and the problem is solved.  "This potion changes up to 20 vex damage to planar damage." (20 is a completely random number just as an example)

Sounds reasonable, I hope klei would consider this method... The planar damage would get boost by this, but the upper limit would prevent Wendy from being overpower.

I dont know, i just think of possible reason why klei didnt give wendy more planar damage in first place. If they give her, i wouldnt mind.
Or cursed vex could go different route -> Make boss attack weaker (-20% damage vs friends, - 40% damage vs wendy)...

That would make more sense, and also make things a lot more consistent between characters.

Yes the vex potion buff currently is half the reason wendy is in top damage charts even if it is tuned down it is valuable enough,25% vex and extra 8 planar per hit would work well too

The other thing is mostly the damage reduction from sisturn 3 , Abigail could take 50% more damage more from bosses and be good with it

Either way the value on either would be good enough
