Stupid question... But what does everyone actually want with wendy

I feel like Wendy "mains" don't know about existence of other characters in this game because they just play only Wendy in every world.

Pick alchemy skill tree, nobody is holding you at gunpoint to use torch tree.

Yet you can't deny such torch tree is a waste of potential. Why even bother having that be put in? Might as well not exist and people won't even blink an eye over it.

Personally, I would like Wendy and Abigail to be able to fight together and Abigail are able to survive until the end of the boss fight.

Now, a lot of people here seems to misunderstand the difference between Abigail destroying bosses on her own and Abigail is able to survive until the end of the boss fight.

Bernie is a good example.

Pretty much everyone agrees with you, just disagrees onnwhat that requires. 

Should you just play normally as any other survivor and expect Abby to survive? Micromanage potions? Make use of simulaneous kiting and  team spirit commands? How much margin for error?

Everyone on the forum "Why is Klei not listening to our feedback.  Wendy's skill tree is horrible and they gave her nothing she needed.  They should redo the whole thing."
It is pretty clear at this point that the problem here is that they really wanted to get all this stuff but overpowered. 

The clear fact is that the Wendy players who asked for the skill tree to be changed are not a group, and each of them has their own ideas. There is a conflict between these ideas, but it is overshadowed by another common thread - they believe the skill tree needs to change (I originally proposed the idea of grave resurrection in a Chinese forum, which I thought was great, but some people clearly disagreed)

It's an awful experience, you are given this power which is Abi but you can't effectively use it in combat because of her limiting AI design. You suffer from character downside not because your mistakes or your lack of preparation but this unstoppable force without solution except back to basic and dismiss Abi. For example: You are earth mage fighting golem boss (immune to earth magic), you are struggling this weak match-up but then you can always reset your skills to other affinity and use different build to solve this problem. Now can Wendy use another build to solve this issue? No, because Wendy is Wendy so you just deal with it using Wilson's way. Imagine in the future, they add more engaging bosses similar to A-Bearger with high health pool, little to no downtime, swift AoE & knockback attacks that needs precise movement to dodge, input reading, and also immune to planar damage so basically you are caged as poor Wilson (Abi wouldn't survive this and you would have no window to summon her) from the beginning until the end of fight while others could use catapults, fiery spells, teleportation, etc for extra damage and utility. They should add this future boss that can disable all power, turning survivors into their spirit form free from upsides and downsides as part of the fight. The current balancing for Wendy issue are riding beefalo (ignoring 0.75 for physical damage) and planar equipment (only calculating 0.75 attack modifier for physical but not planar damage for final damage output). The fun part of being Wendy is to keep Abi alive, fighting enemies side by side like the twins they are.

TLDR: Whaddya mean? Everything is totally fine! Wendy and Abigail are eating good, totally better than some guy with torch & beard.

This is quite possibly the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of, first of all.. Wilson isn’t the only character unlocked from the start (like he is in Solo Don’t Starve) and you have to unlock others overtime, second: There’s no flashing arrow pointing to Wilson on the character select screen that says “Recommended” But perhaps the BIGGEST reason this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard…

Is because Wilson & Willow are the Male & Female Mascots of the franchise, they both occupy the games main loading screen or the digital box art or whatever.. this is the very REASON why Willows character prior to her rework and skill tree was so close to Boring and Basic like Wilson’s… because she was the “Female” version of the basic starter character.

But now Willow has overstepped Wilson in Major ways by getting both a fun rework (Wilson never got a Rework…) AND a cool skill tree that made her even more unique to play.

Im not a Wilson Main.. but the poor fella got shafted in that shady deal.

I think theres room to buff wilson, but the tricky part is they need to keep him "honest" I suppose. Hes the vanilla character, meaning by default hes supposed to interact with the world in the intended method. (Except for the iridescent gem for some reason.) By default the game is balanced around wilson, so giving him something wacky would throw that off, hard.

Imagine balancing boss hp around wolfgang, or hordes around wendy, or mobility around wortox. Wilson doesnt have any of that so the developers and players can engage with a "control"

The biggest thing that irked me most was the torch tree for such a lame perk that again, ONLY WORKS FOR AN ITEM. Meanwhile, Willow can do many things with her lighter - and hey, guess what???? HER LIGHTER PERKS HAD THE BRIGHTNESS AND DURABILITY COMBINED.

MEANWHILE WILSON SLAVING OFF 3-7 POINTS JUST FOR LE FUNNY TORCH THROW.

I dont disagree, its just from the dev streams it doesnt appear that they particularly have a dev build. So in the current update, ds wilson doesnt exist.

So until they rework their entire dev pipeline I doubt that would change.

In any case, I thought Wilsons entire appeal was that he was the only entirely honest character. If you're interested in the personality and not the gameplay style (which is possibly whats making the wendy discourse so toxic)  then idk if they should be balancing around you.

Apologies if this is sounding dismissive/jumping down your throat but idk what else it could be.

After Abigail dies in the boss battle, Wendy will become to Wes. Even if the Sisturn is active, the player is forced to fight the boss as Wes for 3 minutes, or fight the already vulnerable Abigail as 4 times more vulnerable. There are elixirs to instantly make Abigail 600 HP, but "Forget me lots" is one of hard items to get in this game. So "Soothing Tea" or "Beefalo Treats" are some of the most underused items in the game.

In the first place, being unable to use Abigail in the boss battle is a fatal issue character-wise. While unable to use Abigail, so what is the point of using Wendy?

its not that it shouldnt ever happen, its that abi is either good at a boss or she isnt, and there is nothing wendy can do to help out, which is very bad game design cuz its very 'key-and-lock' design in fights when she is for that`for wendy (since she explicitly has a special vex for wendy, but she is still a mob so takes full damage from bosses, usually 150/200 damage, and nowadays a lot of bosses are aoe as they should be so abi cant survive for a minute even with spectral curealls). its why im all for allowing controlling her positioning without a stupid animation to make it smoother in combat.

the problem of her dying, is if you **** up, rather than just the game deciding if wendy can use abi for a certain boss
