Woby's exclusive food: Dried monster treats!

Recommended Posts

Why those two skills and what do they aim to fix/remedy?

Spoiler

Some of the reasons why I choose to tame a Beefalo as soon as I find them over keep using Woby as a mount is the upkeep cost of having to constatly go out of my way to find Woby new monster meat since not only she consume a lot of it but also the monster meat itself rots quickly, both things which are felt especially early game and never go away.

Another reason is that it gets extremely annoying having to dismount Woby just to feed her when she starts going slower because her hunger/speed threshold went down.

Those two skills aim to remedy those situations while also fitting in with his theme  of being a boy scout - and as such knowing how to preserve his food in the wilderness, which a drying meat skill could represent - while also fitting in with his cinematic in which he makes friends with Woby by giving her Dried meat, which could be seen as a treat for a dog and so I chose the Dried monster treats skill, a especial food that only Woby can eat, which is also a nod to the Beefalo treats item that already exists in the game, a especial food for Beefalos that only they can eat and that benefits them greatly.

Backpack Snacks: You can now tie a single piece of dryable food to Woby's backpack, it will dry overtime.
Food dries slightly faster this way and considerabily faster while Woby is moving. (-15% / -30% drying time)

                            - You need an insigh point on "Backpack Snacks" to be able to use an insight point on the next skill "Dog treats" -

Dog treats: Monster Jerky can now be turned into dried Monster treats for Woby.

[1 Monster Jerky -> 3 Monster treats. Monster treats don't spoil and they can only be eaten by Woby, it can be fed to her while mounted, they give her 30 hunger points and stop her hunger drain for half an in game day (4 minutes) stacking a second time if you give two in a row - I made the stopped hunger drain duration stack a second time since you would need two treats in a row for her to turn from small into big Woby which would make it feel like you were wasting the stopped hunger drain duration from one of the Monster treats if it didn't stack.]

I really like those ideas and the reasoning behind them it's a shame it will probably get forgotten under all the Wendy related posts. You are right tho, the upkeep cost on Woby makes taming a beefalo really tempting. Maybe the Walter guy @Catuna_ would like this Idea.

i think it would be realy more interesting thing, it would alsol fit walter very well with his like scout wantering the forest kind of personality, being able to prepare meat on the go and then special things for wobby....way more interesting then being half just slingshot stuff

Been doing a playthrough as Walter and I can get behind this being obnoxious, and it would be nice to have any built-in solution for it. It's a minor issue, but it would be really nice to have something that's easier to store.

Been using Monster Lasagna in a Polar Bearger Bin like a crackhead. It works, but I know it's a little wasteful if I don't upkeep her hunger and let her shrink. Otherwise, Gift Wrap is the best solution.

pretty cool idea, a non-spoiling food for Woby would go a huge way with quality of life for walter
but i cant help but mention that Woby's speed just degrades way too fast in my opinion, it takes her about a day to go from 10 (or 13) speed to 9 (or 12)

I play with Walter a lot and yeah I also hate having to carry lots of monster meat, I really like the idea of Woby snacks that doesnt spoil or last for way longer. Maybe it would feel more fun to use if its a new dish, something like 2 monster meat + honey + bones and you get many on each crockpot (like it happens with the jellybeans, you get 3 per royal jelly). Honey and bones could be a good excuse for why the Woby treats don't spoil and fill her more

And the treats stopping Woby hunger would be pretty good too, her current hunger drops too fast, and the speed starts falling after half a day.
