[Poll] On the Scrapbook

One thing I find really cool about the Scrapbook is how easily you can mod it. It's fairly straightforward to add/change scrapbook information and add new entries as well.

I forget the scrapbook even exists at times, I think that should tell you how think about it

I literally never use it and only get reminded of its existence by scrapbook pages getting in the way of me picking up what I want.

tbh they should add a function where u can mouse over entity and it jumps to that page of scrapbook, which sounds more usefull to new players

• For experienced players the scrapbook doesn't offer detailed information to be reliable, for new players lack of essential information to be help or guide.

Let's take this example:

For advanced players we all know what this does, right? We don't need to check the scrapbook, for newbies what the description even means? What it does? where I get that? how much it cost? how to use it? where i should look for that thing? can I craft it? who knows.

And for most of the times wikis and videos are way better sadly.

• The design is quite boring and simple:

For most of us again we already know who this is but for newbies again, where commonly spawn? It is fast? Is aggressive? why the pig has monster meat as related item? What that even means? why there's no any clue or straight information to the transformation related to that monster meat?

Why I have to see it always on that static pose sideways, why I can't rotate it? why there's no idle animation?

Why Don't Starve don't have tutorials in the scrapbook? Or beginners guides, Oxygen Not included have guides and tutorials videos for newbies.

this is not very new players friendly and not very advanced players useful... is so... unfriendly.

• Not very intuitive to unlock new entries.

Why this are different entries? why is not condensed in just 1 entry, why the new discoveries are not on the top? why i have to scroll between tens of entries to find the new one?

And last it lacks for incentives to complete or fill the Scrapbook.

uh, my man, the pictures below the image of the thing tell you what spawns it AND what materials it gives you when destroyed. (the astral gives you pieces and costs thul+glass to make, the pig gives you meat, manure, tokens and skin and can spawn from houses, mon meat and glass pigs).

Pigs don't give monster meat. Not even werepigs give it.

They turn into werepigs if given 4 monster meat, but you'll have to figure that out on your own.

sorry, you are correct that was a lapse on my part. it is still information provided though even if it does not give you a step-by-step on every detail. dst is still considered a -hard- game where you are expected to struggle(even if the veterans don't feel it anymore)

There is no specific key to open Scrapbook, right?
Also, there is no way to access Scrapbook through the game menu.

It needs improvements but is a very good step in the right direction. Also it allows to add complex items without breaking player's heads

i remember typing out a response to this, forgetting to post, and then remembering just now :((((

anyways Scrapbook option is available in game menu; it's one of the lower options. i'll send a screenshot when able

I dont use it much but I should. It’s funny and sometimes even useful, although only for SP because of pausing.

The reason the oni tech books is so advanced is because if it wasn't. Our engineering would be a night mare. The only thing it is missing is the thermo aqua tuner cooling loop. @Brotid01

Only thing I look up on scrapbook is character quotes for items. For everything else I unfortunately prefer the wiki.

Can u send this screenshot? Can't find Scrapbook in the game menu

I'm actually talking about the game menu, where we have the "Item Collection" and "Compendium", etc. I don't like having to open a world to access the Scrapbook.
