With the emphasis on healing teammates, Wortox should be able to see when allies need healing

Recommended Posts

This is more a QOL than anything

But there's a substantial emphasis on Wortox healing teammates in his skill tree

However there's no reliable way for Wortox to tell when allies are missing/low on health.

This is compounded worse for console players where mods don't exist.

While HP bars would be a first choice (and I understand a bigger undertaking) , it would be nice for Wortox players to have SOME kind of visual aid to know when friendly players are under a certain percentage of health (ie 50%)

Honestly with silly skills like flutes and stuff that I see virtually no use for, a skill that would cause players missing xyz% of their health to glimmer or something would be absolutely freaking phenomenonal

Isnt there flare for that? or well Moonlens?

Moonlens was my thought as well.

It's a little tedious, but if you're playing with friends it's at least an easy work around.

On public servers probably not gonna happen.

And compas

Klei should add scratches and wounds so it follows the same design philosophy as knowing who is insane, hungry or have a dangerous temperature

Honestly, I'd like NORTH icon on the map. It's annoying to coordinate when yours and friends maps arent aligned the same.

I'd be behind this, albeit idk how easily it would be to visualize in boss fights etc

In boss fights is easy to know when someone needs healing.

Did they receive damage? From which enemy? How strong is the armor they are wearing? Calc and decide if you waste a soul or wait

Maybe if you're playing with one single person this is somewhat viable

If you're playing with a group? Not at all

And absolutely impossible to prioritize  who needs heals the most

I'm not suggesting that there's not ways to make educated guesses. But this is Wortoxs big rework, his most important feature is healing himself and others.

It's absolutely silly for the process to not be streamlined or optimized, and this is the most  appropriate time for it to get addressed.

It would be a nice qol, but a headset also works really well for this.

Kinda sucks for a headset/voice chat to be basically mandatory. And stinks to be dependent on someone giving you a play by play on their health for you to fill your intended supporting roll

Why should it be exclusive to wortox? On Xbox whenever another player is off screen but nearby you see their head icon as a character portrait on your screen and an arrow pointing towards their location. A general QOL for the entire game would be for the characters Health Meter to appear in the Background behind that Portrait..

That way people can stop begging me to revive them with a telltale heart when I’ve already exhausted all of my own health reviving them over and over again lol.

Idk, i always use wortox with my newbie friends and i dont find it hard because the characters even make noises when hit

I suggested a similar thing years ago in ancient times. The thread was gone now but the point was something like "Wounded" animation of all characters at low health.

Such as this.

It would be an intuitive way to know and show characters' HP to each other players, unlike weird HP bar (Not the classic DS style!) on character's head. Not only good for Wortox players but also for everyone else. There're already animations for low sanity, temperature and hunger, so I think low HP animation should finally take its place in DST.

I like this idea, but I still think Wortox need a more specific ability to see how "injury" His teammate is. Wortox should could know his teammates health details

Displaying precise health values doesn't align with the original design intent of DS, and there are lots mods that already make it. However, it would definitely be interesting and useful if players' statuses (including health, hunger, and sanity) could be represented through animations or special effects, rather than just dialogue.

original text:显示精确的血量不太符合饥荒的设计初衷,而且有很多模组可以做到这点,但如果能通过一些动画或特效,而不只是台词,来表现玩家的状态(包括生命值,饥饿值,精神值/启蒙值)一定很有趣。

The original don't starve was a single player game.

Now it's focused on cooperative multiplayer, and you have a character Wortox who is designed to be the ultimate support/healing character.

Hard to be efficient and effective if you don't have a way to gage and piroitize who needs healing
