Remove the AoE ammo from Walter

Recommended Posts

After testing the beta it seems Klei really likes to give every single character AoE and splash damage. Now Walter never really struck me as a character that should have splash damage in general as he is more for picking out specific targets from range with his accuracy.

I think it would be better to remove these aoe rounds and focus more so on Walter’s targeting skills.

If you made this post a month ago sure, completely fair and reasonable point

But in the midst of the beta? Deleting the aoe rounds won't give the devs back the time/resources they invested into making it

i think walter having aoe ammo is fine, since his combat is already challenging and unique compared to other characters. while playing him i never really felt like the strategy came from "which enemy should i target", rather "is taking this fight worth the resources i'll have to spend for the ammo" or "how long can i hold f before i actually have to kite". giving walter more versatility in his ammo is a much needed buff in my opinion

Nah bro you are crazy, the versatility those aoe ammos alone added on the slingshot is huge. And yes lots of character are having aoe now, but how is that a bad thing? Like I remember years ago when the only aoe in the game was what, Abigail and Winona's catapult pretty much? And its not like all aoe is the same, for example Wigfrid's spear isnt the same as Wolfgang's dumbells and neither are the same to Brightshade bombs, or Abigail, Winona's catapults, Weather Pain, Wormwood's thorn armor, etc etc.

Walter needed an aoe ammo soo much. If you only wanted to use slingshot rather than going melee, the moment you had multiple enemies you would usually just run away because it was impossible to "pick them out at range" unless you had a beefalo tanking. Like at best you could for example use freeze rounds on 1 target and then focus another. But if you had to fight spider nests or spider queens using only slingshot? It was a PITA. Fuelweaver's fight was almost impossible before, now you can solo it and the aoe ammo does an amazing job at killing wovens and hands.

this is a troll account right. tbh never see any of this acc takes that feel seriously thought. most of time full of rage baits.
why does deleting aoe splash ammo making walter targeting skills anybetter lol.

why not making post. oh i would love a walter targeting skills better. by adding this and that. or any technical that might be viable to the topics.
its feels like a bait thread instead.

klei has been making everyone op for a few years now, there's no reason to exclude walter out of this.

I wouldn't really call it op even since for the most part it's only ever going to mob slower enemies or during a surprise attack using manual aim though thinking more on it I really so love how much depth the manual aim has added to how you can approach combat.

I forget mysterious box and well-met arnt the same person.

At first I thought, why are you replying to yourself then I realized...

And yeah, aoe isn't really op... you could always hire pigs to do "aoe damage" (scattered single target but still) although cumbersome. Now everyone has a more intuitive way to do it.

Except that is actually innovative and unique. I wouldn’t consider swarming the same as AoE like Webber or Wurts abilities. This is what I’m going for with Walter too, his skill should be more about precision perhaps like being able to do heavy damage to a single target at a distance be being able to see “weak points” or something
