it's very simple actually.

All things in the game work around the same one component.

they changed something in that component so that it suits a new feature or mechanic

And then obviously it impacted the regular function in some unintended way, affecting all mobs that drop loot equally.

I think pigs and volt goats were affected? That might imply it was something to do with loot changing w/r/t werepigs and charged volt goats. Hallowed Nights affects loot because candy.

The generic death state used by many entities got the loot drop and physics collider removal calls removed, likely during development of the new features, they probably just forgot to reenable it afterwards, it happens.

Anything with a custom death state wasn't affected, that's why some entities weren't affected.
