Let me contribute a little, the icker preserve structure is unburnable. However, the food inside is. If the food gets struck by lightning, it still can be picked up wile burning. This makes the only instance (at least that i am aware of) of player holding an item that is mid burning animation . As to how I found out, well my 30 flower salads that I was preparing for pearl got struck by lightning thats how. 😠

Edit: You can also light food on fire inside preserver by stacking dwarf stars around. So may be developers did intend on your food burning down. However, this is a weird mechanic. Also, if you pick the food from the preserver lets say 10 seeds and then while those 10 seeds are in burning animation you pick 10 more seeds that were laying on the ground, they stack and all of your seeds burn, yet if you had 10 seeds in your inventory before you pick burning seeds all of them get extinguished.

Willow approves this mechanic!

Wasn't this a mechanic for Willow in ds so that she could hold burning items in her inventory?

Yes. You also had the item's burning effects centered on your person while it was happening; damage to nearby creatures, zone of light and ability to spread fire. You could even extinguish the fire if it was a stackable item by merging it back into a stack, giving you a virtually cost-free source of heat and light. It wasn't exclusive to Willow, but anyone else was taking burning damage doing that so. Although now I wonder if the Scale Mail was able to make this tech usable by everyone.

I think it's no wonder that -- among other things -- it was a function they disallowed in the future.

Crab King still has geyser attack after reworked. When summoning his ice floor, if your ship is too close to the Crab King and ship is anchored, he will do geyser attack until your ship is destroyed.

I learned this the hard way.

Well I have some naughty Wortox tips now.

1. Ignore meat drops from mobs. This way you would save the inventory slots for smth useful. The only meat you need is big meat for hambat. Eat souls to restore the hunger.

2. You don't need knabsack as a weapon really, so souljar nonsense is skippable. Knabsac craft, hovever, is very useful. Followin this to save 3 skill points and still get a lot of souls:

image.png.85d6b8d3eb4b2a82533672c74a5c8b91.png

  • with any weapon, kill spiders and collect all spider glands and silk you can find. Also collect rocks on the way.
  • when you have 20 souls and silk - craft knabsack - having 3-4 is pretty good. Note it's not your weapon.
  • now find bees/killer bees. Use knabsacks to fill your inventory with different kinds of bees - so knabsack is you bee harvesing tool, and bees are your soul jars which you can put into backpack if you want.
  • when you kill bees now for souls, you'll receive a lot of stingers. Tons of it. Burn it to ashes.
  • now with spider glands + stingers + rocks just learn the recepy for healing salves.

So you have a great sinergy really - you could use it before but with normal net it was harder to catch bees, so it wasn't that good, but with knabsack I think that's Wortox meta. He can massproduce healing salves with ease, + have tons of souls, and use normal weapons until shadow reaper unlocked; no need for food officially. I'm not a speedrunner but with this strat I've killed DF day 8 solo (hambat + teleports + football helmet), which I think is pretty fast start.

Also using knabsack to catch bees instead of a weapon means Wortox can utilize bee mines a lot, but I haven't tested it yet.

And Walter (even before the update):

1. Walter can clear tentacles from safe range. Early game I find it even more beneficial then hunting spiders - 2 monster meats per kill + possibly a weapon, and more team appreciation.

A soul jar holds more souls in one stack than a stack of bees though (40 vs 20)... I guess you have the benefit of being able to store bees in containers. I can see that this strategy is viable, but to me, it does not seem superior to killing bees instead of catching them. Maybe I'm not seeing what benefits you get from this strategy?

I dont know if someone already said this but if moleworms eat gunpowder it explodes for no reason and they die

This used to count as death by moleworm too, if you got hit by the explosion

There's an interaction with traps that makes it explode instantly, or something? Beware if you ever notice another player dropping a moleworm right next to you.

I won't argue cause I was not doing deep analysis or tests so I don't know what's the most efficient way. The benefits I can see:

- I don't need to spend 3 skill points for jars when I have the best net ever.

- I don't really need knabsack as a weapon because other weapon options are also cheap and not bad

- When I fight, I don't need to manage jar (opening it, dragging souls, etc) - I just rightclick to kill bees (however sometimes you need to manage bee stack if you don't want oveflow)

- I can use killer bees+panflute combo with ease which is just fun, bees are ultimate Wortox minions now.

What's this?

Remember Crab King cheese? You catch a lot of bees, unaggro them from yourself with panflute once released, then jump a bit away and wait so they'll aggro on the boss. Ofc many bosses have aoe attacks but with such a cheap tool to catch tons of bees it doesn't matter, plus each soul will deal damage to the boss if you're naughty-branch Wortox)

Maybe considered basic knowledge, but I just found out you can examine a crock pot dish as Warly and he'll say something if it's been less than 2 days since you've eaten it, letting you know that you won't get full benefits.

This isn't quite a "hidden" mechanic, but are you like me and miss the days when you could make boards as fast as you could drag logs from your inventory to the sawhorse? If you're also like me, you might have forgotten to consider that there's a simple way to get around forced cooldowns (yes I understand that calling 'waiting for the sawhorse animation to end' a forced cool down is hyperbole)

Just build a second sawhorse. Alternate between them and you don't have to wait for the animation to end! Now you can mass produce boards like 10% faster than manually timing your click on a single sawhorse! And also maybe slower than that because you might interrupt your animation of giving the logs to the structure if you move too fast, defeating the purpose of trying to go faster!

You can block phase 2 Celestial Champion's gestalt attack with Jimbo's poker cards. Once the gestalt hit the cards it won't hit you.

This is from an unimplemented feature where you can challenge various DST bosses to a round of gwent.
