Crab King's ice platform always starts breaking from one of the four tiles he inhabits. This is important for some strategies because if you position yourself opposite of that tile when the ice starts to break, you have more time to damage him before needing to flee the ice.

To find which tile ice starts to break from, you can hold a piece of turf over Crab King and see which tile he is covering the most. The tile he is mostly covering is the one that ice starts to break from.

Here's what the 3 incorrect tiles look like:

And here's what the correct tile looks like:

Once you know this tile, all you have to do is start the fight on the opposite side of that tile (such that CK is in between the boat and the tile) to have more time to damage Crab King during ice phase.

The fertilizer made of figs

Yes everyone, I used lazy wording

What I meant is figs can be used to patch up boats (eventually)

In my gamer brain, I unlocked the "Figs -> Repair boat" crafting route

It is all connected function graphs in my head

Please pardon my gamer brain

Beyond default keybindings there exist further inputs that are unbound by default.

The most common offenders are Take Half (which takes half of a stack) and Change Box (which insta transfers your items highlighted by mouse to another container, which is especially useful cutting down time cooking).

This is not necessarily a great thing, but food items in Wilson's beard storage won't get detected by bunnymen and marotters. Also it won't get knocked out by frogs.

Another bonus fact; the Rabbit King also doesn't detect the meat in Wilson's beard storage!

You can use catapults target perk to kill sea fishes, its specially good if you find a couple of Malbatross shoals together, those fishes respawn quickly and you can stack a lot of big fish meat that way. You can also use this target perk to kill cookie cutter from a distance.

The spider nests refresh all their spiders inside every time they change tiers.

From my knowledge this only will refresh spiders that are already dead or were not available then.  So you cant use this trick to get more spiders from a single nest if the spiders from the previous level are still alive. So if you have 3 spiders from a t1 you will only get 3 more spiders from that nest as a t2  but if they are all dead from the t1 the t2 will give the 6 spiders.

Heres My contribution to the thread.

Bees wax if left near an unsafe fire on the ground will melt. Unsafe fires being campfires star callers and wildfires.
Abigail will Continue to attack structure type enemies(Spidernests/Giant tentacles) until they are dead  if they are hit by magic items like the Ice staff fire staff and the weather pain.

Cave spiders Are ment to hide in their shell when they get scared by bosses Kind of like how rock lobsters do. But instead they go into the normal panic state and wander about. you can sometimes see them come out of the hide animation after the panic state ends.

The hide state is available for the slurtle rocklobster and cave spiders  The slurtle and rock lobsters Both properly hide when set into the panic state When enduced by either bosses Or Fire.  But not Cave spiders Making them even more useless :wilsondisappointed:

Here's a pretty obscure one, and exclusive to DST:

During the day, and when the world is hot enough to cause wildfires, summer pollen particles will move less to the sides and move vertically instead, mostly floating upwards into the sky. Other conditions which stop wildfires from happening (rain, world wetness/snow, season isn't summer) aren't checked.

The temperature check does get affected by the Ice Crystaleyezer, and it's based on the player position.

This is because what's used to search the player's inventory checks for backpacks or so in the body slot, but the beard storage is a container item that has its own hidden 4th slot, so most logic will simply not search it (at most, the beard storage item itself will be checked, but not its contents). This is all pretty much intended though, just giving some insight.

Assuming Wilson is average in every way except speed of beard growth, it would take him 7926kcal to grow his beard fully. Given he grows his beard fully in 16 days, that means he burns ~496kcal per day just growing a beard, which is ~217.5 times more than an average human does. (Assuming humans are like sheep in that respect.)

If a person were to grow a magnificent beard similar to Wilson (assuming he is 67.5 inches tall [average height in 1916]) which is from chin tip to ankle height (ankle is roughly 4inch above ground, with skull height being roughly 12in tall) would take someone who is just like Wilson but also has an average beard growth speed, it would take them 3476.32 days, or 9.52 years.

This isn't an unknown mechanic I just was stupidly interested in this and wanted to share somewhere.

(For measurements I took 0.38mm/day with 2.28kcal/day, if you want to check my work, I am probably wrong somewhere.)

If you cook ingredients if they are low spoilage you gain more freshness on end crockpot dish

image.png.8df4ed7b8045c925fd05aac31ce35841.png

Left meatball: Cooked with 3 spoiling raw carrots

Right meatball: Cooked with 3 cooked carrots (from the same spoiling stack)

Is that because cooked carrots have a shorter spoil time? I assume cooking transfers as a percent, but the crock uses the equivalent time to reach that spoil state, which would be shorter?

This is a pretty good use for salt, by the way! Put your 4 ingredients in the crock pot, then use salt to restore their freshness (which should only be 1-2 salt each, because it's a single item) and you'll get a dish with 100% freshness. Perfect for the polar bearger bin, or squeezing that juicy 20 days freshness time out of dishes like bacon and eggs.

Not quite, it's because roasting the ingredient restores some of it freshness. If you ever had a stack of nearly red meats and roasted them, you'd get a stack of still green (but halfway spoiled) meats instead. Converting meats into jerky or eggs will fully restore its freshness to 100% even if it was nearly rotten.

Don’t use these cooking tips in real life! :-D

Something that I don't remember reading anywhere:

There are two different types of ferns, the ones you can find in caves, and two big variants that give two foliage instead of one. The big variants can only spawn from the reanimated skeleton in the surface.
