The Great Worm needs better drops, but not necessary unique drops

Recommended Posts

I think that the great worm could benefit from having better drops, but it doesn’t need to have unique drops.

Better gems, staves, more thulicite, etc

I think this would make the fight much more rewarding without ruining the hardcore survival aspect of the fight

How about randomised loot indicative of what it may have eaten:

Slurtle/snurtle shell,

Down feathers,

Honeycomb,

Glow berries,

Bananas,

Tentacle spike,

Shroom Skin,

Catcoon tail,

Living log,

Lots of potential stuff!

I love this idea! Honestly just anything to make the fight worthwhile. As it is, I don’t see any reason I should stand and fight instead of running away. Any mid game level loot would work great.

Please no, getting down feathers from Klaus is already cringe-tier loot.

Thats only because it replaces what would otherwise be something like a potential Bee Queen Crown. I'd prefer the loot here to generate independently of other loots.

wat?

Toadstool doesn't shed this, and GDW isn't remotely capable of killing it.

GDW also doesn't visit the surface, so some of those drops don't make sense.

Also, I'm kind of opposed to GDW dropping consumed perishables to begin with. You can feed it tons of items that you don't get back, yet somehow it can drop a light bulb (very short spoil time) it presumably ate before the fight?

I got both the BQ crown and down feather in one of Klaus loots. (And spider hat).

Just then, I fought Klaus again, and got BQ crown, bundle wrap blueprint, spiderhat and malbatross bill.

Like, I get having low-tier items to "balance" the good ones, but when you got the extra low tier ones like tallbird egg or desert stone, then that's just stupid.

It's true.
In fact, the Great Depths Worm can't even scrape a layer of skin off a Toadstool.

Klei should actually use the large worm as an opportunity to give the player resources that can over long periods of time go completely extinct within your game worlds.

For example: Bunnytufts, or Pig Skin, Both are required resources to start rebuilding Bunnyman or Pigman houses.

Plus it also makes perfect sense, to indicate what all the large worm has been gulping down in that huge cave.

If Klei REALLY wanted to break some hearts, they can even throw in a nod to that Pig & Merm romance short.

I know I’d personally probably cry a little bit if their fate was the fall into a large hole in the ground and get eaten by a massive cave worm.

you can get pig skin from moon stone event and bunny puff from rabbit king summon

their skeletons can already spawn in caves in the game

You're all too familiar with who has the bunny puffs, and he knows where you live. :wilson_evil:

They got eaten by spiders. It's implied by the short.

Unless they added loot to him that the Wiki hasn’t updated yet… No?

But it would make sense for him to drop tufts, AND the Caveworm (due to eating bunny towns and stuff)

To reiterate, I suggest it would be independent of other loot. It doesn't need to replace it's drop. Just serve as a separate additional drops. Like tumbleweeds I believe.

The implications are that these resources layed around for years in the environment and found their way around like objects do (such as plastic in fish). Klaus is also not capable of picking up Tallbird eggs or crafting amulets but they still appear in the sack. I've suggested this with the intention of it being thematic with the idea of the worm as a scavenger. If it isn't, then oh well.

Not really bothered either way about the perishables. Wouldn't be surprised if plants found a way to grow inside the worm.

He's got magic, krampus minions, and (most importantly) exists on the surface.

There's already alternative ways to get surface items on the surface. Klaus, tumbleweeds, sunken chests, kitcoon barf, etc. It'd be better if you could count on the worm to always drop cave items, IMO.

Sea Sprout Starter: i am nothing~:spidercowers:

Those could be added to sunken chests, but we don't have a way to replace sea stacks anyway.

I think the Sea Sprout Starter could replace some of the Thermal Stone or Opulent Pickaxe, which are more easily redundant.
