hhhhddh
Splumonkeys in shadow form look like shadow creatures, they also drop nightmare fuels, but they are not shadow aligned? WHY? The Ancient Guardian is shadow aligned in its phase 2, cause nightmare fuel runs in its vines. But a creature almost totally corrupted by nightmare fuel like Splumonkey is not shadow aligned. Hope klei can look into it and change it, or they have explanation I did't know? If so please comment to tell me thx. Captain_Rage
Why are not Shadow Creatures monkey-aligned? cropo
I think some level of intelligence and consent was at least once needed pre-mutation for them to truly be shadow aligned; the monkeys aren't smart enough to willingly do this and only incidentally do because they grab everything they can on pure instinct. Beardlings can drop nightmare fuel but they too are not shadow-aligned. Also are the monkeys truly completely corrupted? They don't drop monster meat and completely revert back to normal once the nightmare cycle ends; there's some trickery afoot with the monkeys. And when nightmare cycle ends shadow power went low so monkeys go back to their animal form, I don't see how that contradicts their being corrupted by shadows. Actually it just proved they DO influenced by shadow power not other things. 4 minutes ago, cropo said: Beardlings can drop nightmare fuel but they too are not shadow-aligned. And here's what I mean by other things. They transform because of player's sanity, no matter they are in cave or in forest (and even rabbits can transform so nothing to do with shadow). But if they are shadow aligned I have no problem with it. cropo
I could bring up that they probably just made Guardian drop normal meat as a reward for killing a boss so deep in the ruins before its loot table was buffed, and it's just a carryover from that since Shadow Alignment is a relatively new mechanic but fair enough I suppose. I'd still say some level of intelligence and willingness to use the nightmare fuel on an intelligent level(not just instinctively grabbing it like an animal) is needed to be shadow aligned; in the case of the clockworks they were made by people who were making them specifically to be shadow aligned so they would be an exception as they aren't intelligent but they're sort of an extension of their creators will. The shadow tentacles generate by it seems just its blood's instinctive reaction, or it should use them more effectively Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/159814-why-splumonkeys-are-not-shadow-aligned-creatures-even-in-shadow-form/#findComment-1749128 Share on other sites
Nogard78
I wish Charlie was shadow aligned. Not really useful but a nice detail. It's a guardian, presumably it had to be guarding something and thus once had a level of intelligence higher than it has now. It also thematically mirrors the Lunar aligned mobs which need their targets to be dead or inanimate in some way to take over. The Shadows also need a sentient person on the nightmare throne for some reason, I just think most evidence points to them needing some form of exploitability and intelligence to eventually turn shadow-aligned.
