Dear Klei, please add Nightmare Fuel -> Pure Horror transmutation to Wilson's shadow affinity.

As per the title, I think this should be added. Players will have countless nightmare fuel but running low on pure horror before shadow rifts. Sure, we can kill Daywalker again and again but that's just too bothersome in my opinion.

Besides, pure horror is often compared to the equivalent of 2 nightmare fuel. So to make this new transmute balanced, have it 3 nightmare fuel -> 1 pure horror.

Yeah, Ickers have really overflown my chests with nightmare fuel recently. I went mapping in the caves, after only 6 days I had 12 full stacks of nm fue froml just walking around the caves. I would not mind converting them into pure horror at all.

So real man. I have over 1k+ nightmare fuel by now (included the ones I don't pick up in caves cuz that's just how many I've gotten).

The disparity here is so much.

I really don’t see the issue with the fuel -> pure horror trade, even if it was 3->1. Compared to the myriad of uses nightmare fuel has, the best use you will use for pure horror is one of the 2 materials for the repair kits and a 2X nightmare fuel for refueling things (which I highly doubt most people are using this for).

Even in the context of dreadstone pillars, in order to craft 1 pillar at a 3->1 NMfuel to pure horror ratio, you would need 396 nightmare fuel, or almost ten stacks (and this isn’t even accounting the time to transmute it all…). Are you really going to get almost 10 stacks of fuel to make a pillar compared to like ~4-5 green gems?

You underestimate insane players lol, especially in multiplayer. They can get tons of fuel as long as any of them are insane.

By comparison, brilliance is converted from infused moon shards, which is also an endgame material

NMF is not endgame material

We need more reasons to farm unique materials, not less

Also you still gotta put 40 dreadstone within the pillar, so yes. Anything to save resources, or convert them to more useful counterparts.

The cost of the building part of the pillar was factored into the green gems (you use 44 dreadstone per pillar, and you can get 10 dreadstone via making 20 walls with 10 dreadstone with the amulet and smashing them to get 20, or you can get slightly more with a construction amulet/deconstruction staff combo of making the nightmare saddle and transmuting the excess horror you get into dreadstone).

At the very least, you can have a small neat sense of progression instead of this "one transmute and its reverse" type only in almost all his transmutation skills.

Of course, I can see this possible perk to happen with Maxwell too, but until then, nothing wrong with giving ideas.

Ah, my bad. I would not be opposed to the option of the transmute myself. I just wanted to point out that a lot of people who claim it would be super powerful/breaking don’t realize that existing options available are already very good for this purpose, and not that I think the transmute would be outclassed (as I do see it having a niche in servers with a lot of people for instance).

We dont know how a cheap trade will unbalance the future content recipes. Nf is easier to farm than ever

Yes, I know that it's somewhat detrimental that his entire character currently got reduced to "le funny material grinding character", but as long as the options are good (I know plenty of people that used him for the most basic transmutation of all: flint-rock for le funny cobblestone), then it's fine.

I mean I certainly have gotten my fair share out of it. He’s got some nice situational transmutes, and in a megabase scenario a lot of those are very helpful (shoutout to the bone shard/pure brilliance trades which I have unironically transmuted thousands of times  with either, alongside beard hair into beefalo wool from my splumonkey farms because why not).

And then you got the useless one: 6 rot -> 1 poop. I REALLY don't see where this transmute can ever be useful.
