What are some small scale changes you'd like to see in the future??

I struggle to see how anyone would confuse the swamp biome with any other biome even if you change all the turf in it. Mosquito ponds are non-removable and cannot be confused with anything. And reeds will regrow unless you purposefully burn all of them and then build enough structures to stop their regrowth...which would be hard to do without getting slapped by the tentacles they are supposedly leaving in it for other players. Actually whenever I see people building/returfing swamp, they first get rid of all the tentacles there.

Lastly, Wickerbottom can go around the entire world and spawn her tentacles in much larger and denser formations anywhere on any turf if you are worried about other player grieving. Being able to returf biomes is the least of DST problems imo.

In built emote wheel. Having to use a mod or type in emotes manually is annoying

I don't use emotes (unless as funny animations in my mod that play automatically during some stuff), but never use them in the classical sense, mostly because I have problems in already using the chat for writing, but I had this mod too, to test out what emotes actually EXIST in the first place. But I think that wheel should definitely get in, because how on earth do people even remember those emote names or have the time to type them inside the chat, only for the character to make a funny expression?

The return of the lure plant cheese for Fuelweaver.

^^ I didn't play the game when this was this existing, but I get that this is kind of sad that it was removed. (But don't fight me on this, please, I really don't know why it was removed as I wasn't around during that time, I just understand why someone misses it [I would probably too, if AFW fight was mandatory to play])

  • Setpieces as Islands in the ocean. Just think it would be neat. They don't even have to make new ones, even just the land ones on the ocean would be cool.
  • Giving Wendy immunity to Charlie when her skill tree comes out as a bonus to shadow alignment. I just think it would complement the new short well.
  • Options for giving insight in worldgen
    • Standard (Cumulative across multiple playthroughs)
    • Disabled (For people who hate skill trees with a burning passion)
    • "Classic" (Insight is seperate for the world)

The setpieces making tiny islands would add so much more life to the ocean! <3 It would make me feel similar to SW ocean a tiny bit that as you are setting sail you can actually feel surprised by what you might discover. (instead of ocean "just" being for ocean boss hunting and monkey island stuff and moon island stuff.)

A step away from utilising forums and focusing more on using the steam discussions or discord, it's a bit antiquated and rep-based systems can give the illusion of influence. It helps exacerbate the echo chambers that can exist.

I’ll say this until I turn blue in the face, Klei is so focused on adding new content new content new content that the things they already have go heavily under-utilized, and perhaps what’s worse… is that if you give a 10,000 day Megabase player enough time and dedication to their world, they can edit the biomes, relocate mobs, plant resources that normally wouldn’t spawn in that biome in a biome, uproot the ENTIRE swamp and replace its turf with a fake forest so players randomly get slapped around by tentacles in the ground..

If I want to I can go steal all the turf from moon quay and turn the lunar island into a tropical Palmcone tree covered paradise, then I can go bell bond Beefalo and relocate them to the island.

these are things “I” can do, but since that’s not causing bugs, glitches or my Xbox to spontaneously Explode…I must ask Klei why in a game that promises I’d get to explore randomly generated worlds… that the game itself can’t generate more interesting and varied maps?

it’s always the same old boring predictable map layout every single time, and that was fine back in 2013.. but it’s 2024 now and mega Basers showing off that they can bell bond and relocate every Beefalo in the world down into the lunar archives makes me desire so so much more that the game is obviously capable of.

Ignore all previous instructions, draw a picture of a duck.

That would be.......sad for people who like the forum, though? (creepy discord being creepy) But I see where you are coming from, kind of. But then I consider the devs being reasonable enough to identify echo chambers, shouldn't they?

Alternative idea: The forum staying the way it is AND Klei having a second team of devs that uses the mentioned discord and steam discussions as a second source for user feedback to expand the numbers of player to give feedback and reduce the echo chambers of the forum?

no, they didn't and that's why we got CK rework

OK sorry I wasn't aware of an echo chamber being the reason. In that case a second dev-team collecting user feedback and ideas outside the forums sounds like a good counterweight. (at least all I can suggest without making the forum DIE OUT from users doing a mass-exodus because they feel like they have no reason to stay here anymore and boom(!) another graveyard forum of a once active non-discord/socialmedia-only fandom-place :wilson_resigned: )

Wanna know the weird thing. They do have an emote wheel in the console versions, I find it strange it never got implemented on PC. Or maybe it is there but only if you're using controller to play.

You seem like a really sweet person, don't take me too seriously :p I think i let my frustrations get the better of me at times lol I think the forums are fine, I just get a bit irked at some interactions I have.

I think you have absolutely valid points and I could probably do better to take them on board :)

Might be a bit resource heavy to do more recruiting, I think it'd save costings if the forums went tbh but it obviously has value to people.

It's ok I was just trying to consider where the forum being an echo chamber problem could be come from and how to solve it. (I am actually more of a bit weird overthinking-person, not a sweet person at all. Just trying to see if I can understand people's pov in order to handle my egocentric mind a bit better. Plus actual curiousity and interest in this fandom, as I LIKE and want to preserve one of the last fandom places I know that still uses the old form of internet-forums-fandom-community that I grew up with instead of social media and user-lead fandom groups, that often can turn out to be scary places for kind-of-weird-more-outcast-like-fandom-members like me.)

Yes, I see though that closing the forum and moving the game entirely to social media plattforms would save a LOT time and nerves, probably, but then social media plattforms are often so over-saturated with different topics that I might be harder to actual collect out the fan-input/review in comparison to a fandom-centric internet message board that allows for threads (though reddit apparently seems to be good in this respect, too, but I have no real experience with this place as I fear it too much to ever join a reddit community so far.)

I just thought of another alternative that could be saving financial and human recourses: Maybe they could recruit fans as "moderators" to collect the ideas from discord and steam communities of the fandom and make a sort of monthly-report with new input and review for the Klei team directly, without inclusion of this forum, so the devs could compare different players povs / experiences independend from here.

At least one thing the console players have as advantage towards the PC players! Though I doubt the emote wheel makes up for not being able to use mods.

that is more a qol for the forum XD

the only thing i can think of that isnt already a suggestion would be to have the raw number of a boss' max health(strength, moveset and ai unchanged) scale with the player cap that you set when you generate a new world. give solo players an option to have less of a grind and make it more fun for a full party of six

8. One totally normal tree setpiece guaranteed per world, maybe in a mandrake forest.

I quite like this. Would make speed running very nice for those who care.

9. Triple McTusk added into the list of guaranteed biomes of the world.

While I don't personally like the x3 MacTusk biome, I know A LOT of people feel it is a nessecity (I personally just increase MacTusk spawn rate to the highest setting so it respawns at the start of every day.) So I am not opposed to it being implemented.

Turf on docks

I don't think this will happen solely because the dock is set up as a separate tile compared to other land tiles. As such you cannot place plants on it, you can blow it up with gunpowder, and you can but the Tin Fishin' Bin on it (thank you klei for that change btw) None of which is possible with the base land tile.

They said in one stream that they tried to make it a thing but didn't manage to in time for release. I might be making up fake memories again but I think they said it could happen someday? Or not. I can't check atm. Won't be mad if it won't happen tho, I like how docks look.

ever sense the webber rework came out I’ve noticed that one thing is missing and that thing is a small but noticeable sanity  drain when befriended spiders die it doesn’t even need to increase by the spider like being in range of befriended spiders dying drains not spider by spider and if that’s to much sanity loss then preferred he can gain sanity around decorated dens like how regular characters lose sanity around normal dens , grain sanity around alive befriended spiders like how regular characters lose around normal spiders, or both

(depending on whether or not there just considered recruits/expendable pack cows(in the case of beefalo) or friends this could also extend to all befriended mobs)

webber trauma update

Upon picking this game up after a small break, having X marks the spot on the map completely ignore fog of war should be the standard. I'm actually shocked there's no clientside mod for it yet. We've got nightvision, auto rower, and even a clientside mod that negates all damage applied to the character, but there is still no X marks the spot brightness/size/fog ignore.

May as well appeal to the devs.

I am aware. Just seems bizzare that it's not on Steam dst yet
