Gurgel
I had a bit if trouble getting that to work. Here is what I found (not 100% sure on all of these): Needs air-pressure to work, probably the usual 150g/tile minimum, even though the description says the tree is fine in vacuum. Might be a bug. The new Oxylite Scone makes getting that pressure very easy though. Pips die very fast if temperature is below -30C. A running space-heater (100% uptime) will not prevent a Pip from taking damage and dying. You need to warm things up above -30C. Pip body temperature can be below "comfortable", mood can be "Glum", it will still do the planting. No light source is needed for Pip-planting Bonbon Trees. Edit: Even when everything is at above -30C, my Pips have some damage on arrival. I think transporting them trough an area below -30C may damage them. And confirmed: A Pip just lost 3 points of health during transport. Select a fast dupe to move them and keep an eye on their health. BezKa
Cuddle Pips could have a bit lower comfort range to help with cold planting I wish Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/158414-pip-planting-bonbon-trees/#findComment-1736628 Share on other sites
Tigin
I was able to plant them quite easily in vacuum. Sometimes they do get stuck where they do the burying animation for a short period but then not actually plant their seed. Clubtropper
Does pip planting bonbons give less nectar than domestic trees? I tried several times at around 40g/tile of pressure, no success. Swarrly
What spacing did you use for bonbons? I can't get my pips to plant trees within 2 tiles of each other. Gurgel
The spacing I use is X--X--X--X, i.e. 2 free tiles between two trees. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/158414-pip-planting-bonbon-trees/#findComment-1737657 Share on other sites
Gurgel
And one more tip: To heat up a space so that pips do not die of the cold (-29C is enough, but I do -27C in case I missed a tile or door), I recommend using liquid heat distribution. Just doing it via thermal conduction takes forever. Example: This has a space-heater with a thermo sensor set at -27C and a temp-shift plate below and then radiant pipes with ethanol in a loop to warm everything up. That takes only a few cycles to work. Sleeeeeeeeeeper
Good ol' shine bug. But yes, vacuum did the trick. The entire ranch is actually kept as vacuum as the tree don't need atmosphere.
