Reiko24 Posted July 15, 2024 Share Posted July 15, 2024 It bothers me. Why aren't for example, tallbird eggs, stackable in an Elastispacer chest? Is it because of the difficulty of implementing such storage for tools with different amounts of wear & tear, so Klei decided to make all unstackable items still unstackable? Or something different? Like it doesn't fit their vision of the game? (which would seem pretty illogical to me) I don't get it how an item that lore-wise makes "space stretch", and "bends laws of physics" (so basically stretches out space so much that you can store an infinite amount of stuff inside), can't make a Tallbird Egg stackable. It's pretty funny seeing that, since that would imply that a Tallbird Egg is extremely powerful, and can negate Elastispacer's space distortion and fix the stretched space, fixing the "bended law of physics" in the process. Are Tallbirds the true Them? So either all of them become stackable, or none of them are, and adding tags to exception like this will make it more pain to deal with future unstackable items. Other exception is bonded beefalo bell. There are also exceptions like hatching tallbird eggs, items with limited uses, etc. I mean, you can just make a failsafe that functions exactly like this: If item has different parameters than an item of the same type (different state of hatching/usage) - don't stack. It would even make new items stackable without any problems. Code doesnt work like that. Maybe if you use chatGPT to convert that line to code, maybe. Each item has bunch of components, animations, skins, use a failsafe function to check all parameters right before putting items will just cause lag. Making those stackable is much more legit than allowing them to be stack in one place but not the other. Oh this would be so nice for holding clothing items. I use chests that are next to a Wardrobe to signify "This is where clothing goes" that would make it so much easier to distinguish.
